A 28-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by as he knocked on a friend's apartment door Sunday night in Laurel, Anne Arundel County police said. The man was knocking on the door in the 3500 block of Sharonwood Road at about 9:30 p.m. when a man with a handgun approached from behind, ordered him to get down on the ground and took the two sets of keys he was carrying, police said. When the friend in the apartment opened the door slightly to see what was going on, the robber unsuccessfully tried to push his way in, police said.

Laurel dentists Dr. Maurice Miles and Dr. Daniel Melnick are offering a discount to assist people who need dental care, and will be helping their community food pantry at the same time. Miles and Melnick will be assisting people who lost dental coverage because of job loss by offering dental services at a discounted rate. For $75, patients will receive oral examinations, X-rays and dental cleanings, and all proceeds will go to Elizabeth House, a soup kitchen and pantry in Laurel.
