On February 11, 2004 JOYCE ROAMONA LAUBACH of Bel Air, MD, beloved wife of Frederick Christian Laubach Sr.; devoted mother of Frederick C. Laubach Jr., David H. Laubach II, Cristina M. Teague and the late Henry J. Laubach; loving sister of Jack Ownesby Jr. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Phillip D. Teague, Matt F. Teague, Crystal L. Laubach, Frederick L. Laubach III, Alicia A. Laubach, Kimberly N. Laubach and Bethany D. Laubach. Services will be held in the family owned Mc Comas Funeral Home, P.A., Bel Air, MD on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bel Air, MD. Friends may call the Funeral Home in Bel AIr on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Elkton caterer wins state award Florence Webster, owner of Flo's Catering in Elkton, has been selected to receive one of Maryland's Top 100 Minority Business Enterprise Awards for 2006 from the Governor's Office of Minority Affairs. The program honors Maryland's best minority and women business owners, and highlights their achievements. Flo's Catering, a family business, specializes in home-cooked food for weddings, business lunches and dinners. A panel of judges chose Webster as an entrepreneur who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in business development, client satisfaction, professional affiliations and community outreach.

Ruth A. "Dee Dee" Laubach, a retired city schools social worker, died of heart failure Aug. 19 at Northwest Hospital Center. She was 84 and a longtime resident of the McDonogh section of Owings Mills. Born Ruth Alice Deady in Amherst, Mass., she earned her undergraduate degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and a master's degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. She was a Baltimore public schools social worker from the 1950s until retiring at age 70. In 1950, she moved to a home she named "Whistle Stop" adjacent to McDonogh School's old railroad station on the former Western Maryland Railway tracks.
