Running backsRookie Jay Graham was a nice change of pace in the second half, but veteran Earnest Byner continues to get yards when there is nothing there, something that Graham has yet to learn. Byner was a good weapon out of the backfield and did a nice job of handling blitzes.C+QuarterbackVinny Testaverde has been maligned for not reading defenses, but that's a poor assessment. He destroyed the Oilers' blitzing schemes and threw some great touch passes.AReceiversThe Oilers' defensive backs are still looking for Derrick Alexander, Michael Jackson, Jermaine Lewis and Brian Kinchen.

Quarterback: Scott Mitchell will make his debut running the West Coast offense. Reserve Tony Banks will probably get most of the work, but he hasn't had much success avoiding turnovers in training camp. For the first time in three years, third-stringer Wally Richardson might get extensive playing time.Wide receiver: The one who drops the ball the least may end up starting opposite Jermaine Lewis in the season opener. Both Qadry Ismail and Webster Slaughter need to become more consistent, and Billy Davis is steadily improving with more time in the offense.

Thumbs up: Ravens' defensive tackles. Tony Siragusa, Sam Adams, Larry Webster, Lional Dalton and Kelly Gregg dominated inside and took turns in beating the Steelers' guards. They forced Pittsburgh to run exclusively to the outside. Thumbs down: Ravens' offense. It was a total breakdown across the board. The team couldn't run, block, catch or pass. The Ravens finished with a season-worst 150 yards of total offense. Key stat: 117:21. Time of possession by the Steelers out of a possible 180 minutes played against the Ravens this season.

Team doctor Claude T. Moorman also did not return phone calls yesterday.Ravens coach Brian Billick said a decision on Siragusa will be made at game time tomorrow, but the Ravens decided to activate second-year reserve defensive tackle Martin Chase yesterday for the first time this season.

Former Ravens defensive tackle and current Poly coach Larry Webster brought more than 60 players from the Engineers' varsity, junior varsity and freshmen squads to Tuesday's practice at the Ravens' training complex in Owings Mills. And while the youngsters were mesmerized by the likes of Ray Rice, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, they also got a chance to meet wide receiver LaQuan Williams, a former Engineer himself. If the student-athletes were excited about Williams, he felt the same way about their visit.
