Curley junior Danny Miller had a big night in two weight classes for the Friars' wrestling team in last night's 33-29 upset at 10th-ranked Calvert Hall. The 112-pound version scored a second-period pin during a run in which the unranked Friars won six of the first seven bouts to build a 26-2 lead; and his 171-pound namesake clinched the victory in the evening's final bout, earning an 11-3 decision over Justin Snyder that broke a 29-29 tie. A vote for Oriole Park* In the very near future, the decision on the name of the new ballpark at Camden Yards will be decided and made public. The four names that seem to be the most popular are Camden Yards, Babe Ruth Stadium, Memorial Stadium and Oriole Park. Please don't name our stadium "Camden Yards." This sounds too much like a place in New Jersey. Babe Ruth was a New York Yankee, not a Baltimore Oriole. Why should we name our stadium after one of our competitors? We already have a Memorial Stadium (so do other cities)

A new study has added to the criticism of routine circumcision, finding that circumcision does not lead to lower rates of sexually transmitted diseases as had been thought. The incidence of two of those diseases was even higher among circumcised men. However, sexual dysfunction was found to be slightly more common among uncircumcised men.The study also found that circumcised men were significantly more likely to engage in a varied repertoire of sexual practices. The study was the first systematic look at the effects of circumcision on disease and sexual behavior, according to a report in today's Journal of the American Medical Association.

There will be a certain familiarity about the Harford County high school girls cross country scene this fall, with five returning All-County selections heading an experienced corps of runners. It could be a recurring theme, too, as some of those expected to be in contention are underclassmen. The holdovers are seniors Amy Altman of C. Milton Wright; Michelle Apland of Bel Air; and Candy Credito of Fallston; junior Jen Englehart of C. Milton Wright, last fall's county Runner of the Year; and sophomore Erin Chlumsky of Fallston.

One of the hottest spots in Baltimore last weekend was a car dealership, as a couple hundred glammed-up guests nibbled on hors d'oeuvres and sipped cocktails while surrounded by exotic cars at Maserati of Baltimore. Casino games inside and a cigar lounge outside added to the evening's pleasures. It all led up to a high-end, high-energy fashion show featuring collections from several area designers. And that was inside the dealership's garage. A very clean garage, we should add. The evening's high point came after all but one of the outfits had been shown, when event chairwoman Jasmine Richardson introduced guest of honor, Baltimore native and "Project Runway" winner Christian Siriano, and the night's one live auction item - a black chiffon cocktail dress he designed for the occasion.

The one race expected to be close at the Harford County Cross Country Championships never materialized Friday afternoon.C. Milton Wright ran away with the boys team title and the Mustangs' Brian Harris easily outran the field for the boys individual crown. But a showdownbetween C. Milton Wright's Stacy Servia and Fallston's Monica Beall never happened.Last year, Beall edged Servia at the wire to take second place. But Beall sprained her ankle last weekend training on the Harford GlenCourse.

Sunday's Governor's Bay Bridge 10K was delayed an hour by a thunderstorm, but when the 10th annual event got under way, Gary Gerrard and Maureen Hall finished first in their divisions.Said Hall, who has won the Bay Bridge run four times: "I didn't think we were going to run because of the conditions. When you have a few thousand runners' lives at stake, you have to be precautionary. I hate to say this, but it was either sink or swim."Hall, who finished in 38 minutes, 7 seconds, is preparing for the Constellation Classic 10K, where she holds her 10K personal record of 36:20.
