WESTMINSTER -- Just a few months after their first successful run of the musical "Oklahoma!" Stone Road Productions Inc. and Friendly Farm are ready to invite audiences back for their second Stage Door Dinner Theatre performance, "Gypsy," which begins tomorrow night.Chock full of local talent, "Gypsy," with a 17-member cast, will light up the Friendly Farm restaurant each weekend in October and the first weekend in November.Harry Langmead, a partner in Stone Road, said that like the production of "Oklahoma" in March, "Gypsy" is well-suited for a dinner-theater crowd.

Ethel StevensFriend of academyEthel Londeree Stevens, who was active in community and Naval Academy alumni affairs in the Annapolis area, died Tuesday of heart and respiratory failure at her home in Edgewater.Services for Mrs. Stevens, who was 91, were to be conducted at 2 p.m. today at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in St. Margarets.She had lived in St. Margarets from 1945 until 1984 when she moved to Edgewater.She was active in the Girl Scout Council of Anne Arundel County in the late 1940s and early 1950s and, as its president, was instrumental in integrating the Scouts.

The first time Bonnie Halberstam met her son Jacob, she learned never to underestimate him.While Mrs. Halberstam spoke with the Russian orphanage director, the 4-year-old boy introduced as Ygor sat on the floor. He had stumps for arms and his right leg was half the length of his left one.Within a minute, Mrs. Halberstam heard a familiar "ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching.""He went to my pocketbook, unzipped it, took the camera out, took it out of its case, and was snapping pictures," she said.Now, Jacob Ygor Halberstam is almost 7 and attends first grade at Carroll County's Hampstead Elementary School.

A year ago, Mount Hebron probably would not have won yesterday's state semifinal field hockey game at Goucher College. Another year of experience, however, toughened the No. 6 Vikings enough to withstand a determined opponent even on a day when the Vikings struggled with their own game. Maria Bosica scored on a secondary surge after a first-half penalty corner and a stubborn Vikings defense made the goal stand for a 1-0 win over Northern of Calvert County in a Class 3A semifinal. "We didn't really play our best game," said Bosica, "but we stuck with it. That's the difference between this year and last year.

Sixth-ranked Mount Hebron got a first-half goal from Maria Bosica and held on for a 1-0 victory over Northern-C yesterday in a Class 3A state field hockey semifinal at Goucher College. The Vikings (14-4), who have been to the final twice, are seeking their first title and Howard County's second when they meet No. 7 Fallston at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Goucher College stadium. Bosica scored her eighth goal of the season on a pass from Alicia Jewel with 8:35 left in the first half and the Vikings defense of Emily Goldman, Emily Smith, Kelly Knuuti and goalie Melanie Langmead (seven saves)
