Supporters of Libertarian Party gubernatorial candidate Spear Lancaster delivered 35,600 petition signatures to the Maryland State Board of Elections yesterday in an effort to place the first minor-party candidate on the ballot for the state's top job since 1966. To appear on the ballot, state law requires independent and third-party candidates to collect valid signatures from 1 percent of the state's registered voters. About 2.7 million Maryland residents are registered as voters, meaning Lancaster needs about 27,000 valid signatures.

Fader's, the century-old cigar and pipe emporium that has counted H. L. Mencken and Tom Selleck among its clients, has been sold to a Pennsylvania cigar distributor, Ira B. "Bill" Fader Jr., president, said yesterday.Fader, whose grandfather started the business in downtown Baltimore in 1891, sold the six-store chain to a corporation headed by Lancaster businessman and Baltimore native Michael J. Goeller for an undisclosed amount. Goeller distributes cigars to 80 mini-markets, country clubs and restaurants in central Pennsylvania through Lancaster Venture Corp.

Maj. Mark ConnellyDoctor in PennsylvaniaServices for Maj. Mark Alan Connelly, an Army doctor with relatives in Baltimore who was killed Feb. 28 in the Persian Gulf region, were held March 9 at the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz, near Lancaster, Pa.Major Connelly died when a land mine exploded as he was riding in a convoy from Kuwait back to Saudi Arabia.Before being called to active duty in the Army Medical Corps at the end of November, Dr. Connelly was associate director of the Depart- ment of Family and Community Medicine at the Lancaster General Hospital.

Donald H. Warren, a retired USF&G Corp. vice president, died Sept. 7 of congestive heart failure at his home in Lancaster, Pa. He was 77.He moved to Lancaster in 1984 from Phoenix in Baltimore County.Associated with USF&G for 20 years before his retirement in 1980, he had earlier worked in Wilmington, Del., for 15 years as an underwriter for the Continental American Insurance Co.A native of Danbury, Conn., he was a 1937 graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.During World War II, he served in the Army in the Pacific, reaching the rank of captain.

Also surviving is a brother Garfield L. husband of Rose Marie Fellman, a niece, nephew and a great niece Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, at 11:00 A.M. at the Salem United Church of Christ Rohrerstown, 2312 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Richard T. Rozanski, a retired Exxon Corp. manager, died of cancer Sunday at his Glen Arm home. He was 70. Born in Kearney, N.J., he served in the Army and earned a business administration degree at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. Mr. Rozanski was an Exxon manager for 31 years and held posts in Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee and Baltimore, where he moved in 1975. He retired in 1992. He was a St. Joseph Medical Center and elderhostel volunteer. Services were held yesterday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Hydes, where he was a member.
