The Lake Clifton boys basketball team is mostly quick and small, and the Lakers are well-aware there will be games when they have to scrap for everything to get a win. Against bigger and stronger Randallstown at the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board 290 Memorial Mixer at Northwestern on Thursday, the Lakers faced one of those games. Lake Clifton found a way to beat the No.12 Rams' press just enough times, hit just enough shots, grab just enough rebounds and tirelessly defend to earn a 60-53 win. Senior guard Daquan Ross had a game-high 18 points and junior forward Tavon Coleman added 12 for the Lakers.

An even-tempered wrestler, McDonogh's Jack Clark has twice won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association and private schools state tournaments, as well as a National Preps crown after having been a runner-up the past two years. But during the host Eagles' McDonogh Holiday Duals on Friday, the 145-pound junior showed how dominant he can be against the best Maryland has to offer when he's a little fired up. Clark began the day with a pin over John Carroll's Artie Milner before scoring a 21-5 technical fall over Wilde Lake's Malik Jackson.

The Lake Clifton boys basketball team had one of those special quarters when almost everything went right on Friday. It came against visiting Forest Park in the second quarter when the No. 11 Lakers were making the extra pass, converting the easy shots, causing turnovers and controlling the boards. They used a 15-0 run that covered most of the 8 minutes to comfortably separate themselves from the No. 14 Foresters, and the Lakers stayed on course in the second half to come away with a 58-35 win. Lake Clifton, which got a game-high 14 points from senior forward Cortell Henson, improved to 4-1 overall with the win. Forest Park (7-1)

Last night, the Tennessee Titans eliminated the New York Jets from playoff contention with a 14-10 victory on Monday Night Football. One of the key players for the Titans on defense Monday night was Wilde Lake alum Zach Brown, a rookie linebacker who was graduated from the Howard County school in 2007 and was selected by Tennessee in the second round of this year's NFL draft. The former three-sport athlete for the Wildecats had seven tackles and two sacks in the victory, but his biggest play was a fumble recovery in the final minute, securing the win for the host Titans.

From the first day of practice in the stifling heat of August, the players for Marriotts Ridge faced almost unprecedented expectations. The Mustangs entered the season as the three-time defending Class 2A state champions and this year's team had the challenge of trying to join Pocomoke, River Hill and Wilde Lake as the only boys soccer programs in state history to win four consecutive titles. Marriotts Ridge responded in a most remarkable way by finishing the season undefeated and winning another state championship Saturday night with a 4-0 victory over Queen Anne's at UMBC Stadium.

The longtime home of James and Patricia Rouse on the banks of Wilde Lake in Columbia, where the world-known affordable housing advocates danced together to tunes from a stereo next to their living room fireplace, is up for sale. It is the home's first time on the market since the newlyweds purchased it for $95,000 more than 38 years ago. "They would put music on in here and dance. They had this incredible record collection," said Maria Gamper, Patricia Rouse's daughter, as she showed off the modern living area that her mother and stepfather shared for more than two decades.

Wilde Lake lineman Moise Larose decommitted from Rutgers on Thursday night and has committed to play for Maryland, according to Wildecats coach Mike Harrison. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Larose was an All-State and second-team All-Metro offensive lineman last season, but he has been even more impressive on the defensive side of the ball this fall. Larose had committed to Rutgers as an offensive tackle, but Harrison said last month that the coach had been getting a lot of calls from college coaches who would rather see him on their defensive lines.

This week in Storybrooke, there was no sign of Rumpelstiltskin and only five seconds of Regina. No worries though, as we got our dose of evil this week from Cora. The episode also showed us the brief relationship of Snow and Charming's mother, as well as her and Emma's plan to find a way back to Storybrooke. Also, Henry continued to be the absolute worst. Ogres hunt by sound? Let me go ahead and fire my gun. We pick up where we left off from last week's episode: Emma and Snow are stuck in the pit with Cora.
