Banksy's has closed in Lake Falls Village. Owners Robb Banks and Will Brown will be focusing on their catering operations, which they had been running out of the same location. The cafe, which opened in 2009, served made-to-order sandwiches and salads, roasted coffee from Baltimore Coffee & Tea, and local sweets like Naron chocolates and Mouth Party caramels. The cafe also had a presence at the Baltimore Farmers' Market and Bazaar, where it would sell prepared soups and macaroni and cheese.

The Cinderella team of this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament hails from Florida, but its coaches have Maryland roots. Andy Enfield set scoring records at Johns Hopkins before he became head coach at Florida Gulf Coast, the darling of the tournament. His assistant, Kevin "Stink" Norris, grew up in East Baltimore and starred at Lake Clifton. Together, they've put a local face on an upstart team that breaks new ground with every win. The Eagles are the first 15 t h seed in tourney history to make the Sweet 16, and an upset of No. 3 Florida on Friday night would carry Florida Gulf Coast further still.

Yesterday, I received a letter from the Columbia Bank announcing that the branch in the Wilde Lake Village Center is closing. I have banked at Columbia Bank for many years ever since it opened its branch in my local village center. So, now, we residents of Wilde Lake have no grocery and no bank in our village center. In short, we do not enjoy the amenities that were envisioned for all residents of Columbia. I might as well be living in some other town, given the need to drive to everything I use on a daily basis.

Longtime Lake Clifton boys basketball coach Herman "Tree" Harried has been selected to coach in Nike's Jordan Brand Classic International Game, which is set for April 13 at the Brooklyn Nets' Barclays Center. The Jordan Brand Classic International Game consists of one game between the top U-16 players from around the world. In addition to the International Game, there will also be a Regional New York City Game and an All-American Game. In January, Harried was selected to be a member of USA Basketball's 2013-16 Developmental National Team Committee.

It was encouraging to read that the revitalization of the Wilde Lake Village Center will be shortly under way and will include a new and improved David's along with a CVS (Feb. 28).  I did find the comment attributed to Kimco Realty's Vice President of Acquisitions and Development, Geoff Glazer somewhat concerning. The article stated that Mr. Glazer believes David's and the new CVS will present residents the choices of a traditional grocer.  Perhaps Mr. Glazer does not realize that the true gem of the Wilde Lake Village Center, past, present and hopefully future, is Today's Catch.  Based on  this article and the way Today's Catch was mention almost as an afterthought, it appears that the importance of this store to the community is lost on Kimco.  For years, residents had the convenience of doing their basic grocery shopping at Giant and walking next door to Today's Catch for the best fish and seafood in town.  If Kimco is even remotely interested in creating a complete grocery store experience for the community, they will make sure that Today's Catch is as easily accessible to David's as it was to Giant and will do everything within their power to make sure that this store succeeds in their new Village Center.

The Randallstown boys basketball team had the ultimate fourth-quarter test of character. The Rams saw their 15-point lead dwindle to nothing with five minutes to play in Tuesday's Class 2A North region semifinal. The opponent was No. 13 Lake Clifton, defending state champions and the same Lakers who rallied past them earlier in the season. Instead of folding, Randallstown stayed poised. The Rams executed on offense and clamped down on defense, scoring the next eight points to restore order and claim a hard-fought 59-55 win on their home court.

Former Lake Clifton guard Josh Selby was waived Sunday by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Selby, The Baltimore Sun's Male Athlete of the Year in 2010, began the 2012-13 NBA season with the Memphis Grizzlies. He has averaged 2.0 points and 5.9 minutes in 10 NBA games this season. Selby also appeared in 11 games for the Canton Charge of the NBA D-League this season, averaging 15.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 32.9 minutes per game. Selby spent one season at Kansas before declaring for the NBA draft in 2011.

A portable classroom at the rear of Forest Lakes Elementary School was badly damaged when a malfunctioning heating unit started a fire early Thursday morning, according to Harford County fire officials. The blaze at the school, in the 100 block of Osborne Parkway in the Forest Hill area north of Bel Air, was brought under control about 2 a.m. by several dozen Bel Air and Fallston volunteer firefighters, the fire department reported. Damages are estimated at $15,000. No changes to the school's schedule on Thursday were reported.

Howard Thomas "Has" Sachs, a retired Crown Cork and Seal manager and a coach, died of Alzheimer's disease complications Feb. 24 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was 77 and lived in Pasadena. Born in Baltimore and raised on Sidney Avenue in Westport, he was a 1953 graduate of Southern High School, where he earned varsity letters in baseball, football and basketball. Family said he played on the same team as Al Kaline, a Westport friend who went on to play for the Detroit Tigers and is in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

The senior continued his breakout season at the Howard County wrestling championships last weekend, dominating the 170-pound weight class with three first-period pins to win the Outstanding Wrestler award at the tournament. In improving to 33-0 with 21 pins this season, Morakinyo needed a combined three minutes, 34 seconds to pin his three opponents for his first county championship. He pinned Centennial's Bradley Fasulo in 1:09 to open the tournament, beat River Hill's Sebastian Ames in 1:19 in the semifinals and topped Glenelg's Anthony Pagnotta for the championship.
