The Lake Clifton boys basketball team is mostly quick and small, and the Lakers are well-aware there will be games when they have to scrap for everything to get a win. Against bigger and stronger Randallstown at the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board 290 Memorial Mixer at Northwestern on Thursday, the Lakers faced one of those games. Lake Clifton found a way to beat the No.12 Rams' press just enough times, hit just enough shots, grab just enough rebounds and tirelessly defend to earn a 60-53 win. Senior guard Daquan Ross had a game-high 18 points and junior forward Tavon Coleman added 12 for the Lakers.

For his final year of college basketball, Terence Jones knew exactly what he wanted in a program. The former Lake Clifton guard wanted to play for a school that would offer more exposure for him than he received at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He wanted to step into a situation where playing time was available from Day One. And he wanted to play for a coaching staff that knew how to win. In the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Jones found all that and more. The 6-foot-2, 187-pound player committed to the Blazers at the end of a visit to the Conference USA school Saturday night.

The Edmondson boys basketball team made a halftime adjustment on defense Tuesday against visiting Lake Clifton, going man-to-man after playing zone most of a tight first half. Red Storm coach Darnell Dantzler's instructions to the offense were both simple and familiar: Get the ball to senior guards Rodney Pratcher and Kavon Pyatt. The two responded as they had many times before, Pratcher scoring 15 of his game-high 26 points in the second half and Pyatt adding 16 of his 18 points after intermission to lead the No. 5 Red Storm to a 72-58 win over the No. 10 Lakers.

Lake Clifton boys basketball coach Herman "Tree" Harried was conducting morning practice on Martin Luther King Jr. Day when a visitor stopped by. It was one of his former players who just wanted to tell Harried that he was doing well with a good job and family. He also said 'Thanks.' Harried, a Dunbar and Syracuse grad who went on to play professional basketball overseas, has piled up 256 wins in his 15 years as coach at Lake Clifton....

Focused, explosive and often dazzling, Lake Clifton senior point guard Josh Selby set a fast pace and had plenty left for the finish against visiting City on Tuesday. The No. 3 Knights, who valiantly tried, simply couldn't keep up. Selby finished with 41 points, including enough dunks to fill up a segment on "SportsCenter," to lead the No. 10 Lakers to a 69-61 statement win over City. Lake Clifton improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in Baltimore City's Division II, while the Knights (12-2)

The No. 11 Lake Clifton boys basketball team found itself in unfamiliar territory, trailing for most of the game Friday. But a switch in defense and free throws down the stretch changed the Lakers' fortune in a 56-52 win over Centennial at the IAABO Tournament. The Eagles, coming off a 50-45 win Thursday over Digital Harbor, attacked the rim and led 22-19 at the break. Lake Clifton coach Herman "Tree" Harried switched the defense to a half-court trap and jumped the ball to stop Centennial from driving into the lane.
