Lady Gaga was slammed on the internet this week after adding 25 pounds to her normally svelte figure and is fighting back by promoting people's right to a positive body self image. The popular singer started a "Body Revolution" campaign on her website Little Monsters. She posted pictures of her new fuller body clad in only a bra and panties. She encouraged her fans to post photos of their own bodies, flaws and all. Gaga is far from fat with her new figure, but not the sticks and bones often glamorized in Hollywood and on the music scene.

Perry Hall High School shooting suspect Robert Wayne Gladden Jr. knew his stepfather owned a cache of powerful guns but was unable to gain access to them because they were locked in a safe, Baltimore County police said Friday. "This shooting, as devastating as it was, could have been a lot worse," Police Chief James Johnson wrote in a blog entry posted on a county news website Friday. Police have obtained evidence that Gladden was "well aware of the guns" but knew he couldn't get to them, according to the blog.

The student victim of a shooting at Perry Hall High School is getting better, but he's "not out of the woods," his family's pastor said Thursday. Daniel Borowy, 17, underwent surgery earlier this week and has another scheduled for Friday, said Dominic Correlli of the Perry Hall Family Worship Center. "He has improved, but he's going through a lot," Correlli said. Correlli said that when he visited the hospital Thursday, Borowy was groggy, hooked up to equipment and could not talk.

A campaign is under way to convince Lady Gaga to visit one of her biggest fans -- the 17-year-old high school student shot Monday at Perry Hall High School. As Daniel Borowy, a special education student at Perry Hall, remained in critical condition, his classmates took to the Internet to try to cheer him up in the only way they could think of -- to get his favorite singer to come visit him in the hospital. Students started a campaign Tuesday asking everyone they knew to ask everyone they knew to Tweet "#GagaVisitDaniel" in hopes that Lady Gaga, a huge presence on Twitter, would see it and find a way to visit Daniel.

The last time Charles Gounod's "Faust" was staged at the Lyric Opera House , 11 years ago, the work's original medieval-period setting was changed to World War I. That production, devised for the late John Lehmeyer for the old Baltimore Opera Company, found the soul-selling title character and that of the accommodating Mephistopheles decked out as German fighter pilots. Silent films were projected in key scenes. This week, "Faust" returns to the same venue, the inaugural-season closing presentation by Lyric Opera Baltimore.
