Many in the area know that Anne Arundel Community College has an exceptional women's lacrosse team, but not everyone keeps up with its success. And if ever there's been a season to follow the team, this is it. "Sometimes teachers or my friends' parents will ask, 'Hey, what's your record?'" said AACC goaltender Brittany Kincer of Glen Burnie, who adds that she prefers not to boast about the team's prowess. "I'll say, 'We're doing pretty well.' And they'll say, 'Well, what's your record?

The Loyola men's lacrosse team made sure overtime was not even a possibility Saturday. No. 7 Loyola took a lead with 1:29 left in the first quarter and never relinquished it en route to an 8-4 win over No. 13 Johns Hopkins before an announced 7,905 at Homewood Field in Baltimore. It was in stark contrast to last year, when the Greyhounds opened with a nearly 19-minute scoreless stretch and surrendered five goals in a 10-9 overtime setback to the Blue Jays. The victory helped the reigning national champions snap a 13-game losing streak to Johns Hopkins, capturing their first win in the series since 1999 and their first triumph at Homewood Field since 1998.

First it was an 11-6 loss to No. 1 Roland Park."That was our best game," said Becca Armiger, last year's leading scorer on Centennial's lacrosse team. Then came a 20-14 defeat to Fallston."We had that game, but we just gave up," Armiger said. "We just lost our enthusiasm."Finally, and worst of all, a 15-2 loss to St. Agnes."That was embarrassing," Armiger said. "One goal a half. It's ridiculous."The Eagles returned 10 players with starting experience, including their top three scorers, from last year's 12-2 team.

For the McDonogh boys lacrosse team, Friday's game at Loyola was starting to resemble its loss against Boys' Latin earlier in the week. Once again, the No. 5 Eagles played a fine first half only to see the opposition take the lead in the second half. But this time, McDonogh made sure it had the final say. With a strong collective effort on defense and momentum-changing goals late, the Eagles came away with an 8-6 win over the No. 4 Dons in Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference play.
