The Western Howard County Seniors Book Club, a group of retired women known for its lively discussions of contemporary fiction, will meet at 10 a.m. July 5 at the Glenwood library, 2350 Route 97, Cooksville. The group will discuss Miss Julia's School of Beauty, by Ann B. Ross. The group is open to new members. Copies of the books are available at the branch. Registration is not necessary. Joseph David Strosnider, a retired Air Force captain who was an admissions officer at the Air Force Academy, died Sunday on his 64th birthday of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at his Martinsburg, W.Va., home, where he moved a year ago. He had formerly lived in Southwest Baltimore. Born in Baltimore, he was delivered at home by his grandmother, a midwife, and raised on Sargeant Street near the B&O Museum. He graduated in 1958 from Southern High School, where he was a member of the school's wrestling team.

Jeremy J. Mann has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal, awarded to soldiers for meritorious service, acts of courage or other outstanding accomplishments.Mann is a property accounting technician at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.He is the son of Edna M. Branch of Darlington.Mann is a 1973 graduate of Bel Air High School.MAYSE FINISHES BASICAirman Christopher T. Mayse has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs, and received special training in human relations.

The Air Force opened its newest wing - a major component of the Air Intelligence Agency - in ceremonies yesterday at Fort Meade. Col. Harold J. Beatty was installed as commander of the new 70th Intelligence Wing, which will gather intelligence products and resources in areas including security, foreign weapons systems and technology. Information developed by the 70th will be provided to the National Security Agency, the Department of Defense and White House, as well as other military and civilian agencies.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas J. Cullum has returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm, whileserving aboard the guided missile cruiser, USS San Jacinto.
