Barbara McWilliams and Sandy Hartzell, owners of a Glen Burnie-based company specializing in gift baskets and balloon decor, have been named Citizens of the Year by the Northern County Chamber of Commerce in recognition of their participation in community affairs. The award was among the business and civic honors announced Saturday at a chamber event at La Fontaine Bleu. In addition to serving on the chamber's board and executive committee, McWilliams and Hartzell, owners of Magic Moment Creations, were recognized for their roles in Arundel Habitat for Humanity, as sponsors of charitable causes and for helping to organize the annual Linthicum Community Fair.

Flea market tables are available for Jenkins Memorial Church's annual strawberry festival and flea market, scheduled for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9 at the church grounds on Riviera Drive in Riviera Beach. A rowdy roundup was staged at La Fontaine Bleu as 1,050 cowgirls and cowpokes packed the place for Harbor Hospital's "Harbor Daze" celebration. Since the theme for this year's jamboree was "Our Country Style," many folks donned western duds in red, white and blue -- with stars and stripes a major motif. As a band played country-western tunes, hardy two-steppers snaked around other guests mingling on the dance floor. Another line -- this one for the Tex-Mex buffet -- formed out the back of the ballroom to a tent where vittles like pit beef and barbecue were being served.

Chamber to hold educational awards dinner on June 1 The Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce is holding its seventh annual Educational Excellence Awards Dinner from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 1 at La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie. This year's event will honor more than 50 educators and at least 10 businesses for their partnership with local schools. Guest speaker will be Miss Maryland, Marina Harrison, who lives in Anne Arundel County and is a graduate of the county high school system.

BWI expansion plans to be presented to 2 business groups Expansion and improvement plans for Baltimore-Washington International Airport will be presented to the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and the BWI Business Partnership this week. Maryland Secretary of Transportation John D. Porcari and Maryland Aviation Administration Executive Director David L. Blackshear will discuss current and future activity at BWI during tomorrow's 8 a.m. chamber meeting at the BWI Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road in Linthicum.
