On September 6, 2005, HELEN M. KOWALCZYK (nee Wladkowski) beloved wife of the late Edward G. Kowalczyk, devoted mother of Maryanna Kropp, Janet Randall, Edward, Robert, Chet and the late Richard and Gerard Kowalczyk, dear sister of Joseph Wladkowski, Bernadine Kosyjana and Lorraine Colflesh. Also survived by eleven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation Sunday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P. M at the CVACH/ROSEDALE FUNERAL HOME, 1211 Chesaco Avenue. All the other players were wet and muddy by the time Zachary "Z-Man" Morris got into the game. It was a playoff between the Stembridge Colts and the Middle River Renegades in the 11-13 age division of the huge Harford/Baltimore County Youth Football League. It had rained heavily, and his teammates and opponents were wearing warrior mud when the Z-man's coach ordered him onto the field at Stemmers Run Middle School. From the sideline, Dennis Martinez, the Stembridge football commissioner, noticed the boy with the clean uniform and the slow, awkward running style.

Anthony Milton Kowalczyk, a retired clothing cutter, died Friday of renal cell carcinoma at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. The Pasadena resident was 71. Mr. Kowalczyk was born in Baltimore and graduated from Patterson High School. He later served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Kowalczyk worked as a clothing cutter for I.C. Isaacs & Co. for about 40 years and retired in 1992. He met his wife at work. "He worked on the cutting floor, and I worked on the finishing end," recalled the former Jeraldine Robinette.

Crowd surfing and Net surfing aren't that far removed.It took five minutes for Live's Ed Kowalczyk to get to the phone, because he was busy updating his Web site, http: //www.edko.org.He writes a daily diary entry and adds digitized pictures for fans to enjoy.But he certainly doesn't spend all his time on the computer. He'll surrender from cyberspace Saturday when the alternative rock band, Live, comes to Merriweather Post Pavilion for the "Secret Samadhi" tour.For those who have seen Live in concert before, expect a more elaborate set, including columns and arches.

A Westminster woman was charged yesterday in connection with an incident in which a police officer was dragged about 250 feet as he clung to a car Monday.Patricia V. Lewis, 24, of the 900 block of Wampler Lane was being held at the Carroll County Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail, awaiting a hearing today in District Court.Westminster Officer Tom Kowalczyk suffered multiple abrasions and bruises and at first was unable to stand because of severe neck pain after he fell from the car and landed on his back on 46th Street, he said in charging documents.

Harford County Police investigate death of man Harford County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a man whose body was found yesterday morning. The sheriff's office said a passer-by found the man's body about 10 a.m. in woods off North Avenue in Bel Air. The man is described as white, about 50 to 60 years old, and there were no apparent wounds, said Sgt. Christina Presberry of the sheriff's department. Investigators are trying to identify the man. The body was sent to the state medical examiner's office.
