LAYTONSVILLE - In golden light that fell through stained-glass windows, parishioners of St. Bartholomew's Church prayed for their former rector yesterday. Their text came from the Book of Common Prayer: "Oh blessed Lord ... look with compassion upon those who through addiction have lost their health and freedom." Though shocked and angry, members of this small-town Episcopal congregation are trying to look with compassion on the Rev. Travers Clement Koerner, their rector for two years, who spent Sunday locked up in the Montgomery County Detention Center on a $2 million bond.
