"I hope my baby is dead. " These are the chilling words from a mother who is now charged with repeatedly stabbing her 8-month-old child during a supervised visit with a social service's worker. The account comes from police charging documents filed in court that detail the horrific incident. Social workers rushed to help the child, and one threw a chair at her, forcing her to drop the baby, the knife still in her neck. One worker told police she confronted the suspect as she held her daughter on a table with one hand and the knife in the other.

The Exxon gas station was robbed by a man with a knife early Tuesday morning. A man holding what looked like a kitchen knife walked into the gas station at the intersection of Route 924 and Singer Road in Abingdon shortly after midnight Monday. He demanded cash from the clerk, who handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, then ran out of the store and down Singer Road, Maryland State Police TFC Michael Bonczewski said Thursday. The robber is described as a white man who was wearing black pants and a gray hooded sweat shirt with the hood covering most of his face.

A Glen Burnie woman was arrested Wednesday after her 60-year-old husband was stabbed in their home, county police said.Corinthia B. Carter, 41, of the 600 block of Nolberry Court was charged with first-degree assault. She was being held at the County Detention Center on $7,500 bail.Her husband, Martin, was in serious but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center with a wound to his left hip.Police said the couple had been arguing in the early evening. While Mr. Carter was washing dishes about 10: 30 p.m., he was attacked with a 6-inch kitchen knife, police said.

A series of safety improvements are in the works at Maryland social services offices after an infant girl was allegedly stabbed by her mother during a supervised visit this spring, state officials said last week. The child, Pretty Diamond, who is about a year old now, has recovered from her physical wounds and is in a "loving and safe home," state human resources secretary Theodore Dallas said. Her mother, Kenisha Thomas, is scheduled for trial Oct. 29 for attempted murder, assault, child abuse and related charges.

Hearing his co-worker scream Tuesday morning, "She's stabbing the baby, help!" William Purnell Short III ran into Room 117 at Baltimore's social services office on East Biddle Street. Police said the 8-month-old girl had already been stabbed five times in the head, neck and chest. Short told detectives he saw a woman using her left hand to hold the baby on a table and her right hand to press a silver-bladed kitchen knife to the infant's throat. "I'm going to kill her," police quoted her as saying.

Baltimore County police today were searching for a man who raped a 75-year-old Randallstown woman in her dining room and threatened her with a kitchen knife.The rape occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. yesterday after the woman had returned home from shopping, police said.As she entered the house, a man was in her kitchen. A 28-year-old Florida woman was charged with stabbing her estranged husband in the abdomen with a kitchen knife after an argument in Columbia on Friday, Howard County police said.April Elizabeth Delmonaco, 28, of Miami was being held yesterday on $50,000 bail at the Howard County Detention Center.Ms. Delmanaco is charged with assault with intent to maim and assault and battery, police said.Her husband, Gregory Harrison Hill, 34, of the 3200 block of Lightning View Road in Oakland Mills village in Columbia was reported in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said.

Annapolis police have charged a 12-year-old girl with assault in the stabbing of a 13-year-old boy. The incident occurred at 11 p.m. Thursday outside a home in the unit block of Pleasant Street, near Clay Street. The victim was cut on the arm with a kitchen knife and was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he received three stitches. The suspect was released into the custody of her guardian. A 13-year-old girl stabbed a 15-year-old boy in the back with a kitchen knife in Pasadena yesterday morning as the result of a feud between the teen-agers, Anne Arundel County police said. "They had a little dispute and the little girl retaliated by stabbing him," said Officer Charles Ravenell, a county police spokesman. The stabbing occurred about 10:18 a.m. in the 7700 block of Woodlawn Ave. after the boy threw snowballs at the girl and threatened her dog, police said. The victim was transported to University Hospital in Baltimore, where he was listed as stable yesterday.

Citing the "bravery of two" but noting the "valor of all" their colleagues, the state's governor and city's mayor lauded Thursday the workers who helped save an infant being stabbed at a social services office in East Baltimore. William Purnell Short III hit the suspect with a chair, forcing her to drop the infant, and Dana Hayes screamed for help, prompting a flurry of 911 calls that got police and paramedics quickly to the social services complex on Biddle Street on April 24. Short held the suspect — who police said bit him on the hands — until police arrived.

Those who work near Amir Shahmaee's pizza and sub shop in Owings Mills remembered him yesterday as a friendly man who often gave odd jobs to people that others might not hire. Shahmaee was fatally stabbed yesterday in his Reisterstown Road restaurant. Baltimore County police said they arrested a former employee in the crime. Otis Andrew Spence, 21, of the 8800 block of Green Needle Drive in White Marsh was charged with first-degree murder, police said last night. Spence was being held without bond, police said.

A Baltimore police officer shot and killed a man early yesterday, moments after the man fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend with a kitchen knife on the sidewalk outside her West Baltimore home, authorities said. Lequisha I. Truitt, 28, of the 2500 block of W. Baltimore St. died there in front of her 8-year-old daughter, police said. The man, Ditania E. Kane, 28, of the 4400 block of Manorview Road, died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said. Southwestern District Officer Andrea Curtis, who fired the shot, was reassigned to administration duties pending an internal investigation, police said.

2 young boys charged in separate knife attacksTwo young boys have been charged as juveniles with assault, battery and assault with a deadly weapon after separate incidents on South Center Street, Westminster police reported yesterday.On Monday, an 11-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy were wrestling when the younger boy left, ran to his house on South Court Street and returned minutes later with a kitchen knife that he allegedly began swinging at the 11-year-old, police said.The 10-year-old's sister disarmed the boy and took the knife home, police said.

A Pasadena woman was in serious but stable condition yesterday after being shot in the chest by a county police officer Sunday night as she was approaching her husband with a kitchen knife. The incident took place during a domestic dispute involving four people and a sword, police said.Police said officers responded about 9: 30 p.m. to a report of a fight between Karen Sue Medura, 40, of 7861 Riverside Road and her husband of more than 20 years, Leon. A Baltimore police officer shot and killed a man moments after the man fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend with a kitchen knife on the sidewalk outside her West Baltimore home early yesterday, city police said. Lequisha I. Truitt, 28, of the 2500 block of W. Baltimore St. died at the scene in front of her 8-year-old daughter, police said. Authorities declined to identify the man, saying they were awaiting confirmation of his identity through fingerprints. The police officer, Andrea Curtis of the Southwestern District, joined the force in 1999.
