Luke Scott hit the 100th home run of his major league career and Ty Wigginton also homered, but Texas' power display proved a little more potent Sunday as the Rangers beat the Orioles, 6-4, at Camden Yards. Josh Hamilton and Vladimir Guerrero each slammed three-run homers off Orioles starter Kevin Millwood, who fell to 2-14 this season. Hamilton's blast came in the top of the first inning, after rain delayed the start of the game by 22 minutes. Four innings later, Guerrero connected to give Texas a 6-1 lead.

During the course of this season, Orioles rookie starter Brian Matusz has closely watched and often chatted with veteran starters Kevin Millwood and Jeremy Guthrie. On Thursday, in a 4-0 win over the Texas Rangers, Matusz mimicked his mentors' recent performances to carve out a little team history, while one-upping each of them. Matusz pitched eight scoreless innings and allowed just five hits and one walk to the vaunted Rangers' offense while striking out six. He also joined Millwood and Guthrie to become the first trio of Orioles' pitchers to throw consecutive games of eight innings or more since May 2005, when Daniel Cabrera, Erik Bedard and Sidney Ponson achieved the feat.

It's getting harder and harder these days to decipher which statistics are the most embarrassing, which numbers best exhibit how awful the 2010 Orioles have been. There are so many to choose from, but here is one that is going to be very tough to beat. With their 8-2 loss to Toronto on Tuesday night before an announced 16,862 at Rogers Centre, the Orioles are 20 1/2 games behind the Blue Jays for fourth place in the American League East. Only two other teams — the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Arizona Diamondbacks — entered Tuesday more than 20 games out of first place in their respective divisions.

If it were up to Orioles veteran right-hander Kevin Millwood, he would pitch through his right forearm strain. It's not his decision, however. So Millwood, who lasted just one inning Monday in the third-shortest start of his 14-season career, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday to make room for outfielder Felix Pie, who was activated from the 60-day disabled list. "It's tough when you present a situation to somebody like Kevin, who likes the ball," interim manager Juan Samuel said.

The first time the group of Orioles pitchers piled onto Doctor Doom's Fearfall at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure theme park, Chris Tillman wouldn't go. Tillman, 21, the youngest member of the quintet at the Orlando amusement park that day in early March, is terrified of thrill rides. Kevin Millwood, Jeremy Guthrie, Brad Bergesen and Brian Matusz experienced the 150-foot, heart-in-shoes free fall, and then made a pact to tell Tillman it was mild, a little fib among teammates.
