Anne Arundel County at-large school board member Andrew Pruski announced his resignation from the board on Wednesday, citing a prohibition on appearing on the general election ballot simultaneously as a County Council candidate and a candidate for retention as a board member. State law requires a board member to stand for a retention vote in the general election following his or her appointment to the board. Thus, Pruski's name would have appeared on the November ballot for that retention vote.

Among the transactions: Ayesha Chaudhry, a rising senior at South River High School, was sworn in as the board's 41 st student member on July 1 at the county courthouse in Annapolis, school officials said. Chaudhry succeeds Else Drooff, a Broadneck High School graduate whose term ended on June 30.
