A medic unit that had rushed to the scene of the midday shooting in Belair-Edison sat idling in the street. With the dead man's body under a sheet, there was no one to transport. Word was spreading about 49-year-old Kelvin Moyd's being shot. Relatives came running down Pelham Avenue, visibly upset and too frantic to cry. Two women burst through crime scene tape. One was bear-hugged by a male officer, who had other officers come to his aid as he struggled to keep her back. Then a man came down the street and a group of people swarmed him before he could confront an officer.

Jordan McKelvin first fell in love with golf at age 2. She received a plastic set of golf clubs as a gift from her great-aunt, and she rarely put them down. By the time she turned 5, visits to the driving range with her dad became commonplace. She isn't playing with toy clubs any more. In just her second year of high school competition, McKelvin's skill has made the Westminster sophomore one of the state's best golfers. And her work in school and the community has achieved equally high marks.

An article in Thursday's editions of The Sun omitted the last name of a Glen Burnie man charged with breaking into the homes of three elderly people in Glen Burnie and Pasadena. He is Kelvin Theodore Johnson, 34.The Sun regrets the error.

The evidence against Kelvin Drummond is overwhelming I write to express my dismay at Gregory Kane's column "Governor gets 2nd chance to make the right decision" (June 7). Mr. Kane reports that the strongest evidence against Tyrone Gilliam was the testimony of Kelvin Drummond, who "just happened to be Gilliam's co-defendant." Mr. Kane opines "it's just as possible that Kelvin Drummond was the trigger man." I'm certain that, if Mr. Kane were to look in The Sun's archives concerning Christine Doerfler's murder and Tyrone Gilliam's trial, he would easily learn that Tyrone Gilliam confessed, on tape, to being the trigger man. In post-conviction proceedings it was learned that Tyrone Gilliam had also told his lawyer that he was the trigger man. His own written words included "I've cold bloodedly killed someone" and "I've caused a lot of hurt, just by pulling a trigger one time."

A Baltimore man convicted in the execution-style slaying of a man who interrupted an argument was sentenced yesterday in Baltimore Circuit Court to life plus 20 years in prison. Martinez Brown, 26, of the 2300 block of E. Chase St. was convicted in November by a city jury of first-degree murder and using a handgun during a crime of violence. Prosecutors said Brown shot Kelvin Knight, 18, in the forehead and chest Dec. 7, 2003, outside a Chinese takeout restaurant at Montford Avenue and Biddle Street in East Baltimore.

A Circuit Court jury convicted a city man of first-degree murder and a handgun violation yesterday in connection with a shooting outside an East Baltimore carryout in December 2003. Prosecutors said Martinez Brown, 26, of the 2300 block of E. Chase St., shot Kelvin Knight, 18, at point-blank range outside New Land Chinese Carry Out at Montford Avenue and Biddle Street. Knight was killed after interrupting an argument between Brown and a woman. When Knight laughed at the couple, Brown said, "Do you think I am playing?"
