Mike Giuffrida had a goal and two assists, as No. 3 Fallston (8-0, 4-0) stopped visiting North Harford, 4-1, in a bruising boys soccer game on a cool, rainy evening last night.Fallston's win, coupled with C. Milton Wright's 3-0 victory over Bel Air in the afternoon, kept the two unbeatens in the Harford County League on a collision course toward their meeting at Fallston next Thursday. In between Fallston goes to Aberdeen and C. Milton is at Edgewood on Tuesday.North Harford (4-2-1, 2-2), which had not played well in a 4-1 loss to Wright last week, was much more intense in this one and within a goal until the 54th minute.

C.J. Lauer, a junior attackman, scored the game's last two goals, as visiting Fallston fended off North Harford, 8-6, in a bruising Harford County League game last night. It was a game between two of the county's best, and they played like it. Until Lauer's third and final goal with 4:26 left, no more than one goal separated the two rivals.Fallston (8-0, 4-0) got outstanding play from midfielders Fred Sheckells, a senior, and Todd Paradise, a junior. Time and again the two used their speed to spark a transition game and each ended up with a goal.

Keith Smith doesn't remember much about the earlier Fallston game, but he got one to remember last night, leading No. 2 seed North Harford (10-4) past the top-seeded Cougars, 8-2, in the Class 1A-2A North regional championship game.It marked the first time North Harford had beaten Fallston in three years and although it was No. 2 seed beating No. 1, it was not a major upset. Two of the best teams in Harford County, they had played evenly the first time until Smith departed. Last night, he tipped the scales North Harford's way.Smith, a junior, received a mild concussion in the opening minute of the regular-season matchup and did not return to a game won by Fallston, 8-6.The Cougars went on to finish the regular season unbeaten for a second straight year and added a regional win for an 11-0 record entering the game.

When North Harford coach Ed Zorn moved star midfielder Keith Smith to forward against Oakland Mills, he took a calculated gamble."I was looking for more offense," Zorn said.Even though Smith scored a goal for the Hawks, his absence at midfield created a vacuum that the Scorpions capitalized upon to win a hotly contested 4-3 game yesterday at Oakland Mills."I think we won the midfield and that was a key factor," said Marques Holmes, who scored Oakland Mills' fourth goal with four minutes left.
