Ravens run offense vs. Jaguars run defense - JAGUARS EDGE Ravens guards Jeff Blackshear and Edwin Mulitalo have to control middle linebacker Lonnie Marts, and Kevin Hardy has to be slowed on the back side. The Ravens will find room behind left tackle Jonathan Ogden. Ravens pass offense vs. Jaguars pass defense - JAGUARS EDGE The Jaguars are ranked No. 2 against the pass in the league, but that's because they get so much pressure on the quarterback -- they have 41 sacks.

Most classy move: Steelers coach Bill Cowher apologized to Chris Hudson of the Jaguars before Sunday's game for his sideline behavior in Jacksonville's 30-21 win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 22. As Hudson ran past Cowher for a clinching, 58-yard touchdown off a blocked field goal in that game, the coach cocked his arm as if he intended to punch Hudson.Least classy move: Steelers linebacker Greg Lloyd leveled Jaguars receiver Keenan McCardell after the whistle on Sunday's first play because he thought McCardell had made a threatening phone call during the week.

For the first time since he became one of the NFL's top receivers, there were questions surrounding Jimmy Smith this preseason. Smith, the cornerstone of the Jacksonville Jaguars' passing game the past five years, had two off-season abdominal operations that hospitalized him for a total of 35 days. He lost 20 pounds but gained it back shortly before training camp. If Smith can regain his form - the one he used to lead the league with 450 catches for 6,599 yards the past five years - the season may not be as long as many are predicting it will be for the Jaguars.

Houston Texans Last season: 0-0. Coach: Dom Capers (30-34), first year with Texans, fifth in NFL. Story line: Is David Carr ready to quarterback an expansion team as a rookie? Power game: The Texans went for established starters with big contracts in the expansion draft, then selectively attacked a diluted free-agent market. Among the starters they pulled out of the expansion draft were former Ravens LB Jamie Sharper, CBs Aaron Glenn and Marcus Coleman and DLs Gary Walker and Seth Payne.

Less than two months before training camps open, the NFL's revolving personnel door will spit out another class of free agents in the coming days. This one promises to be even more tepid than the moderate March market. As many as four wide receivers of distinction - all age 30 or older - and a handful of aging defensive linemen are expected to become available when teams make one more round of cuts for salary cap relief. Ten years after free agency began, the annual June 1 cuts no longer hold intrigue.

PSINET STADIUM 1 P.M. CH. 13 Scouting report Ravens rushing vs. Jaguars run defense -- Jaguars -- The Ravens pounded Pittsburgh for 140 rushing yards and a 3.9 average carry last week. RB Priest Holmes (119 yards) carried the load, but has only three rushes for 10 yards in three games against the Jaguars. Rookie Jamal Lewis (live rushes, 16 yards) will have a bigger role this week. C Jeff Mitchell (knee) is expected for play for the Ravens, and that's important because he'll be required to block MLB Hardy Nickerson.
