Jon and Kate Gosselin, the stars of the TLC reality TV show Jon & Kate Plus 8 made it official last night: They are divorcing after 10 years of marriage. "Kate and I have decided to separate," Jon said about 40 minutes into the one-hour show. Their eight children will remain living in the mini-mansion in Berks County, Pa., where the show is filmed. Jon and Kate will alternate living with them in an arrangement that will keep both of them in the children's lives - but not together. "It's going to change a lot because there will be time that I will have to be away from them," Kate said last night.

It was nine years ago to the day that Survivor: Borneo debuted on CBS, ushering in a new era of reality TV as the dominant form of prime time network and cable programming. Remember Richard Hatch, the naked contestant known as "the snake"? Since that first summer, critics like me have been wondering how far we as an audience would let the voyeuristic cameras go before we decided we'd had enough. Obviously, we have yet to hit that wall. But it appears that without much notice, we have entered a new and darker realm of the genre in recent weeks - one that is making some viewers feel a little queasy.

A small Maryland-based cable channel and a large Pennsylvania family have improbably teamed up to supplant Hollywood starlets such as Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton as the new epicenter of our celebrity-obsessed pop culture. TLC, which began in 1980 with the educational mission implied by its title as The Learning Channel, has a megahit on its hands with the fifth season of Jon & Kate Plus 8, a no-holds-barred reality TV series about a suddenly unhappily married husband and wife, Jon and Kate Gosselin, and their eight children (sextuplets and twins)

Turner Classic Movies' "Summer Under the Stars" ends this weekend with two days dedicated to that most storied of Hollywood couples who never made it to the altar, Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. Tracy gets his turn tomorrow (don't miss Captains Courageous at 8 p.m.), but today it's the Great Kate's turn. For a look at what made Hepburn such an endlessly intriguing personality (as well as a role model to a whole generation of women), check out a 1973 appearance she made on The Dick Cavett Show (11:15 a.m.)

IF I see a paparazzi shot of me that's in a magazine or something at an event, it's as if I see it from an outsider's point of view. There's like a character and then there's me. I think it's kind of entertaining. But to be written about - that aspect - I don't think anybody should have to live that way, when people are trying to pry into your life. You give, you give, you give. You talk, you talk, you talk. At a certain point you start to keep your mouth shut and then people freak out!

Despite the mixed blessing of seeing at least six versions of Kiss Me, Kate -- including the near-perfection of Annapolis Chorale's version in October -- Colonial Players holds their own with its new show, bringing intimacy and offering fresh insight into Cole Porter's classic. The play-within-a-play follows the behind-the scenes shenanigans of four main characters in a traveling version of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew that has just arrived at Baltimore's Ford's Theatre. Director and leading man Fred Graham was once married to Lilli Vanessi, who plays Katherine to his Petruchio.

LONDON -- Glamorous is not exactly the first word that springs to mind when you think of Queen Elizabeth II, who became the oldest reigning monarch in British history yesterday. Consistent? Yes. Dedicated? Definitely. But glamorous? That would be like describing one her famed corgi dogs as lissome. Yet British Vogue has named this little old lady one of the world's 50 most glamorous women, along with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and the queen's screen alter ego, Helen Mirren. It's not that the 81-year-old queen has undergone some kind of dramatic makeover.

The junior transfer from California shot 10-for-19 from the field in his third game for the Bears, who improved to 2-1 this season under coach Todd Bozeman. The Bears took an 11-point halftime lead and never looked back, outscoring the Red Flash 40-27 in the second half to cement the win. To open their 35th season, J. Ernest Green and the Annapolis Chorale brought their talents in the Broadway musical genre to Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate, investing it with everything this classic deserves. Instead of a synthesizer or small combo, Green and the Annapolis Chorale offered a full orchestra, 170-voice chorus and leading players who are classically trained singers. With the overture downbeat Saturday night, the audience was instantly immersed in Porter's fabulous score. From the liveliness of "Another Op'nin', Another Show" to the lush romanticism of "So in Love" to the infectious rhythms of "Too Darn Hot" and the delicious schmaltz of "Wunderbar," the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra transported us back to Broadway's golden age. The Maryland Hall stage was so full with chorus and orchestra that there seemed little room for any dramatic action to create the Kiss Me Kate/The Taming of the Shrew play within a play.
