ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Orioles' six-game winning streak survived at least another day. The Orioles' game last night against the Texas Rangers was postponed because of rain and will be made up today as part of a doubleheader at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The first pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. "What you'd like to do is just play," said Orioles manager Dave Trembley, whose team is 6-1. "I would have preferred to play, but obviously, the elements are such where you can't.

GUTTING IT OUT The pinpoint control and dominant stuff that Erik Bedard has had for much of this month was absent. Struggling to get his fastball over the plate for a strike, Bedard walked five Red Sox in six innings, tying his career high. But amazingly, Bedard left the game after the sixth inning, allowing only two runs on David Ortiz's third-inning home run. Bedard allowed just two hits - both to Ortiz - and struck out six. He improved to 5-0 with a 2.21 ERA in six July starts. He has won seven straight decisions.

A recap of the Orioles' 8-1 win over the Rangers yesterday: O's hitters keep doing damage Orioles manager Dave Trembley gave Melvin Mora the day off yesterday and moved usual No. 3 hitter Nick Markakis into Mora's second spot in the lineup. The changes did little to weaken the middle of the Orioles' order. Cleanup hitter Aubrey Huff went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a walk. No. 5 hitter Luke Scott continued his tear by going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a walk.
