With a week to go before the kickoff of "Dancing with the Stars," Raven Jacoby Jones, who is competing on the show this season, has been practicing in Baltimore. Jones and his partner Karina Smirnoff have worked on their routine at the Owings Mills JCC. The other day, the pair took a break from practice and tried to teach the center's pre-school children Jones' signature end zone move, the "Choppa City Juke. "

Thanks to a DVR issue, I missed the first 13 minutes of the recording. The first thing I find out is that Betsey Johnson and Tony Dovolani are the first couple in jeopardy. Then we get a montage of the female contestants explaining why they came on the show. It has annoying on-screen graphics. Still not in love with the new showrunner's ideas. Today I was relieved to find out that I wasn't the only one who thought the direction on last night's show was atrocious, with random cutaways, accidental shots of the crew, and poor time management that meant all the judges didn't get to speak.

Last week, more than 21 million viewers tuned in to see Baltimore-born singer Mario and his partner, Karina Smirnoff, dance the quickstep on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. The Monday telecast was second only to Fox's American Idol in the Nielsen ratings. Tonight, it's the tango for Mario, and he says he wishes he had more rehearsal time last week to work on the dance. Most of his week was spent in Florida performing at concerts and BET's Spring Bling rather than working out in a Los Angeles dance studio.

Jacoby Jones entered tonight's “Dancing with the Stars” finale in fourth place. Bruno Tonioli reiterates the concern that Jacoby's freestyle, with its large-scale production, overshadowed Jacoby himself. Len Goodman, however, has nothing but kind things to say about Jacoby. Host Tom Bergeron explains that because abc.com went down during the East Coast broadcast of last night's show, none of the votes cast through the ABC website were counted. The calls, texts and Facebook votes were the votes used to determine tonight's results.

Sean Lowe of "The Bachelor," the latest addition to the cast of "Dancing with the Stars," knows who his biggest competition on the show will be. And it's Baltimore Raven Jacoby Jones. It was announced Tuesday that Lowe, who just finished a run on the reality dating show "The Bachelor," will be competing on "Dancing with the Stars," dancing with Peta Murgatroyd. Lowe, known for taking his shirt off on "The Bachelor," had apparently been practicing in secret for weeks. Jones is partnered on the show with Karina Smirnoff.

Baltimore will certainly have something to root for on the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars. " We'd already heard Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones -- known for a little end zone shuffle -- will be strutting his stuff, partnering with Karina Smirnoff. And joining him will be a woman who should have a serious edge -- Olympic skating champion Dorothy Hamill, who lives in Baltimore. Hamill will be dancing with Tristan MacManus. The Baltimore kids will be joining a cast including Wynonna Judd, Kellie Pickler and Aly Raisman.

As Baltimore Raven Jacoby Jones makes his "Dancing with the Stars" debut tonight, he revealed who else on the team he thought would have a chance on the show. Jones knows what he's talking about. He has shown Baltimore his fancy footwork in the end zone. And even one of his fellow competitors on the show -- "Bachelor" star Sean Lowe -- has said his biggest competition for the mirror ball trophy will be the wide receiver. When asked which other Ravens players might have some skills on the dance floor, Jones didn't hesitate, listing the team's best -- and worst -- dancers for Insider.

On Monday night, Baltimore did the traditional red carpet one better, with a purple carpet laid out at the Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric for the VIP premiere screening of the official NFL "Super Bowl XLVII Champions: 2012 Baltimore Ravens" DVD. The scene beforehand had some of its own highlights. Joe Flacco, accompanied by wife Dana, was the first to arrive on the purple carpet, although not much of the carpet itself was visible thanks to the many media types who immediately swamped the Super Bowl MVP. Ray Ricebrought along 1-year-old daughter Rayven, who posed for the paparazzi like a pro, modeling a cute purple floral frock.

The finale of "Dancing with the Stars" summed up season 13 in an over-dramatized recap of Ricki Lake conquering her personal demons, J.R. Martinez exposing his vulnerability and Rob Kardashian blossoming from a boy into a man. Yup, that about sums it up, in a very melodramatic way. Each of the finalists got to resurrect a favorite performance of the season. For Ricki and partner Derek Hough, that was the "Psycho" tango they performed during Hollywood week. A strong choice and certainly one of their more memorable dances with the shadow play, intense music and mood.

Tonight's Halloween show was hard to take seriously, what with all the special effects, overblown makeup and costumes, and ridiculous props. Fun, nonetheless. Cheesiest props: J.R. Martinez and partner Karina Smirnoff for use of caskets, fake lightning and even a proton gun in a tango set to music from "Ghostbusters. " And then there was Karina's costume -- an inexplicable mix of feathery white fringe from head to heels covering her backside, but just bits of flesh-toned leotard up front.

Jacoby Jones begins the finales tonight coming down the staircase in purple and gold, with partner Karina Smirnoff in a purple dress -- a nice nod to Jacoby's hometown of New Orleans. Their first round is the "judges' pick" dance, and it's the jive. Jacoby says in an interview that he was in the middle of the pack through a lot of the competition, but now, with a tie for the lead last week, he's put on his burst of speed for the last 100 meters. Judge Len Goodman shows up in the rehearsal studio to work with Jacoby on his footwork.

It's semifinals week on “Dancing with the Stars,” and Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff had two dances this week: Argentine Tango and Lindy Hop (chosen by Twitter users). First up was the Argentine Tango. Karina and Jacoby are losing their patience with each other in rehearsal this week. During rehearsal on the ballroom stage for camera blocking, Karina had a flip over Jacoby that ended with her landing on her jaw, and it sounds like she might have had a slight concussion. She goes to the hospital, but we don't follow her there.

Tonight's gimmick on Dancing with the Stars is that each pro/am couple will dance alongside a pro couple during their routine. The pro couple will dance first, then the pro/am couple will join them for 15 seconds of synchronized choreography. The pro couple will drop back and the pro/am couple will finish the routine. Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff will be dancing with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trubunskaya. During rehearsal, Jacoby has trouble with some of the moves, and claims that Karina forgets he's a man and some moves just won't work for him. Maks gives him some solid advice for his hands during the jive, to keep them above his waist and out of the way. They're dancing to Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally," which contains some of my dad's favorite lyrics in all of pop music: "Saw Uncle John with long tall Sally / They saw Aunt Mary comin' / So they ducked back in the alley.

It's "Prom Night" on Dancing with the Stars , and Jacoby Jones tells Karina Smirnoff he went to his prom "on a last-minute thing. " He was 5'7" and 160 pounds, and went stag. Once at prom, he played some pranks and got kicked out. Oooh, scandal! Jacoby's high school was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina when he was a college student. He's dedicating tonight's dance to his alma mater, Marion Abramson High School.   During rehearsals, the Ravens player keeps saying "rhumba" to rhyme with "Roomba" the self-propelled vacuum cleaner.
