JOAN CATHERINE COLDER of Baltimore died Sept. 8 at age 72. Born in 1932 in Pittsburgh, the former Joan Kane was the daughter of the late Patrick Martin Kane Sr. and the late Mildred Kane (nee Russell). No services were held. An off-duty Anne Arundel County police sergeant fatally shot a 35-year-old Pasadena man who was brandishing a shotgun and arguing with family members yesterday, police reported.Sgt. George Halpin, 36, of Pasadena fired his Beretta 9 mm service pistol once, killing Terrance Lamont Kane of the 8100 block of Elizabeth Road about 4 p.m.Mr. Kane lived in a house trailer behind the home where the shooting occurred, police said. The trailer and home are in the community of Rockview Beach.Investigators said Mr. Kane had been arguing loudly with members of his family -- including his stepfather, sister and mother -- yesterday afternoon.

Howard County Circuit Judge Raymond J. Kane Jr. is in good condition at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore after undergoing heart bypass surgery Tuesday. "His outlook is favorable," said hospital spokeswoman Jenny Hodgins. Kane, 61, could be out of the courthouse recuperating for up to three months. Kane entered Howard County General Hospital on Monday morning after complaining of chest pains. He was transferred that afternoon to Union Memorial, where he underwent surgery Tuesday. Hodgins would not disclose what type of bypass surgery the judge underwent or when he would be released, in accordance with Kane's wishes.

Howard County Circuit Judge Raymond J. Kane Jr. underwent heart surgery yesterday at a Baltimore hospital and could be out of the courthouse recuperating for nearly three months, court officials said. Kane, 61, was listed in critical but stable condition last night at Union Memorial Hospital after heart bypass surgery. The usual recovery time for bypass surgery is eight to 12 weeks. Kane entered Howard County General Hospital early Monday complaining of chest pains, and was transferred that afternoon to Union Memorial for tests.

Howard County Circuit Judge Raymond J. Kane Jr. was admitted to Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore yesterday after feeling chest pain this weekend, court officials said. Kane, the chief administrative judge for Howard County Circuit Court, is undergoing medical tests on his heart at Union Memorial and could be out for several weeks depending on test results, the officials said. Kane, 61, has been serving on the Howard County Circuit Court bench since 1982 and has been the administrative judge since 1991.

On June 2, 2006, WILLIAM GEORGE HUPFELDT, beloved husband of Margaret Kane Hupfeldt and devoted father of Susan Kimberly Hupfeldt, Christopher Edward Hupfeldt, the late William George Hupfeldt, Jr. and Juliet Hupfeldt Miller, and devoted stepfather of Claire Cunliffe Mc Laughlin, the late Andrew Requard Cunliffe, Claudia Kane, Betsey Kane and Brian Kane and loving grandfather of 13 children. Born in Baltimore, he was a 1944 graduate of Boys' Latin School where he later served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

LOS ANGELES -- William Kane spelled it all out in his will before he killed himself in a Las Vegas hotel suite last year.His two children would get the 7 1/2 acres of land in Monterey, Calif.His first cousin would get $30,000.His girlfriend, Deborah Hecht, would get everything else, most notably a dozen vials of Mr. Kane's frozen sperm on deposit at a Los Angeles sperm bank.Friends say that Mr. Kane, a brilliant man whose life swirled -- at least in his mind -- with hints of military and diplomatic intrigue, was too tired and depressed to go on living, but nonetheless wanted to have a child with the woman he had lived with for five years.

On Wednesday, August 30, 2006, DOROTHY M. WEIDOW, 66, of Montgomery, PA, died at her residence. She is survived by her husband Dennis, three children and eight grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Kane, PA, at a later date. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc., in Kane is in charge of arrangements.
