COLLEGE PARK - When he's healthy, Braxton Miller is a star, a dynamic and multidimensional threat at quarterback and one of the top offensive weapons in the country. But even without Miller, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during preseason practice, Ohio State's offense is still gaining a lot of yards and scoring a lot of points in recent weeks. The play of Miller's replacement, redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett, is one of the primary reasons why. Slowing Barrett down and trying to force the young quarterback into mistakes will be key for Maryland heading into Saturday's game against No. 20 Ohio State at Byrd Stadium.

As two of John Carroll's steadiest wrestlers this season, J.T. Levendusky and Ethan Reese both have confidence in their abilities. Both also have drawn their confidence from unusual sources. In Levendusky's case, his confidence boost actually came from a championship loss. After pulling a mild surprise by making it to the heavyweight finals at the Maryland Private Schools State Tournament last season, he then had to face Gilman's Justin Wiley, who was about 65 pounds heavier than him. But Levendusky battled and held a one-point lead into the final seconds before falling, 3-2. That match gave Levendusky a stronger belief in his skills heading into this season.

They really need to get it together. Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera are two of the most unfocused acts in pop right now. Their sound, their look, their kiss-my-you-know-what attitude -- all so embarrassingly contrived. As the two try on different guises, we wait, hoping that in the midst of their search they find something that resembles authenticity -- or better yet, the former Mouseketeers learn to just embrace whatever exists behind the masks. But that could take a while. "JT" and "Xtina," whose much-ballyhooed rescheduled summer tour stops at MCI on Monday, Aug. 25, have been on stages, delivering plastic Colgate smiles, over-rehearsed lines and choreographed-to-death routines since childhood.
