WJZ meteorologist Bernadette Woods is leaving the CBS-owned station to join a non-profit firm in New Jersey focused on climate change, she said Wednesday night. Woods, who has been with WJZ for seven years, said she will remain at the station helping with the transition for the next month. After that, she, her husband and their two children will be moving to Princeton, N.J., where she will join Climate Central as staff meteorologist. "I'm very excited about the opportunity in Princeton," she said.

Top-ranked Loyola plans to open the season on Saturday against Delaware with a defenseman making his first career start. Senior T.J. A little more than five years ago, Ryan Henderson was nearing the peak of the sport he loved the most. He had won his race the night before, and he was just a day away from turning professional in motorcycle racing. But Henderson would never earn the professional status he coveted. Racing along the Seaford, Del., track's dirt surface, Henderson caught his foot in a hole and was ripped away from his bike. The fall broke his neck and back, paralyzing him from the chest down. He spent the next month in the hospital, and he said it took him four years of rehab to "rebuild myself.

Massachusetts Lowell will move up to Division I and join the America East Conference, representatives of both announced today at a rally at the Tsongas Center on campus. The school, which is currently in Division II, will also add men's and women's lacrosse for the 2014-15 season, the Boston Herald reported on its website . The America East Board of Presidents unanimously approved accepting UMass Lowell as a member of the conference effective July 1, 2013. The move also received the unanimous support of UMass Lowell's Faculty Senate Executive Committee and Student Government Association.
