NFL teams already have their stopwatches poised to time draft prospects at the annual scouting combine that begins Wednesday in Indianapolis. Should Notre Dame inside linebacker Manti Te'o or Georgia inside linebacker Alec Ogletree plummet to the Ravens' 32nd overall draft pick of the first round in late April, NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock thinks the Super Bowl champions would bolt into a speedy 40-yard dash to select either coveted defender....

SARASOTA, Fla. - Trayvon Robinson suited up for the first time as an Oriole on Saturday and took part in the first official full-squad workout, but the outfielder had hoped to be in camp a lot earlier after being acquired in the November deal that sent infielder Robert Andino to the Seattle Mariners. Instead, he had to clear waivers after the Orioles outrighted him last week to make room for pitcher Todd Redmond , a move that had to leave him wondering just where he might fit with a team that has a dozen outfielders in major league camp.

Top-ranked Loyola plans to open the season on Saturday against Delaware with a defenseman making his first career start. Senior T.J. Harris has played in seven contests in his first three years, but he will join junior Joe Fletcher and senior Reid Acton on close defense. “He's looked good in the scrimmages,” coach Charley Toomey said of Harris. “We'll see if he's prepared to be a 60-minute defenseman or if we have to use [sophomore] Pat Frazier off the bench. When Maryland visited Cameron Indoor Stadium last month, Duke fans smugly expressed indifference at the impending end of a Terrapins-Blue Devils series that was once among the hottest in the country. "Don't come back," they chanted at the Terps. But there is no such exaggerated nonchalance at Maryland, where the rivalry is not fading away quietly. In College Park, it still seems personal. Maryland (17-7, 5-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) may be leaving the ACC to join the Big Ten in 2014, but players and fans still define the team's season partly by how they stack up against Duke (22-2, 9-2 ACC)

A little more than five years ago, Ryan Henderson was nearing the peak of the sport he loved the most. He had won his race the night before, and he was just a day away from turning professional in motorcycle racing. But Henderson would never earn the professional status he coveted. Racing along the Seaford, Del., track's dirt surface, Henderson caught his foot in a hole and was ripped away from his bike. The fall broke his neck and back, paralyzing him from the chest down. He spent the next month in the hospital, and he said it took him four years of rehab to "rebuild myself.
