On January 5, 2005, JOHN Le MOYNE RANDALL, of Annapolis, MD. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Alice Pembroke Murray; three children: John Murray Randall, of Foster City, CA, Emily Randall Fjeld, of Oslo, Norway and Anne (Nancy) Murray Randall, of Annapolis; and three grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 14, at 11 A.M. at Christ Episcopal Church, West River, MD. Arrangements by John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Hospice of the Chesapeake or Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

John M. Murray, a decorated Korean War veteran and retired Georgia Pacific Corp. manager, died Oct. 3 of complications from emphysema at his Catonsville home. He was 76. Mr. Murray was born in Baltimore and raised on Ellamont Street in the city's Walbrook neighborhood. He was a graduate of the old St. James School at Eager and Aisquith streets. He was 17 when he enlisted in the Army in 1948, and, while serving as an infantryman at several stateside posts, was division boxing champion.

Helen Louise Thomas, who sold cosmetics in her Lauraville neighborhood, died of complications from diabetes Jan. 2 at her Northeast Baltimore home. She was 68. Born Helen Louise Murray in Baltimore and raised on Poplar Grove Street, she attended St. Cecilia Parochial School in Walbrook and was a 1953 graduate of Catholic High School. She sold Avon products for 31 years throughout Lauraville. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass was offered Tuesday.

John LeMoyne Randall, a retired salesman and a decorated Army paratrooper who fought in several key World War II battles, died of cancer Wednesday at his Annapolis home. He was 80. Born in Baltimore, he moved with his family to South Byfield, Mass., and graduated from Governor Dummer Academy high school in 1943. After graduating, he joined the Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division's 517th Parachute Combat Team. He served in Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He also saw combat in the Battle of the Bulge, the final offensive by the Nazis before the war in Europe ended in April 1945.

John Murray is a cook living with his girlfriend's family in Portland, Ore. Jovanna White is a mother of five living in a LaQuinta Inn in Huntsville, Texas. Elsa Pool is a psychoanalyst staying with friends in BATON Rouge, La. A month ago they all lived in the New Orleans area. Now they are scattered across the country, uncertain whether they'll ever return. Even as the immediate crisis begins to recede, people find themselves in a new stage characterized by a sense of loss. "They've lost control of their lives, they've lost their houses and possessions.

A Mass of Christian burial for John A. Murray Sr., a retired assistant manager of clothing stores, will be offered at 1 p.m. today at St. Lawrence's Roman Catholic Church, 5801 Security Blvd., Woodlawn.Mr. Murray, who was 77 and lived in the Catonsville area for many years before moving to Myersville about five years ago, died Sunday at the Frederick Health Care Center after a long illness.He retired because of ill health in 1976 after working for about five years at Hamburger's stores.Earlier, he sold real estate for the A. L. Stromberg Co. and the Security Realty Co.During World War II, he worked at the Bethlehem Steel Corp.

DOROTHY F. RITTER, 84, passed away Friday, December 10, 2004. Mrs. Ritter was born and lived in Baltimore, MD, before moving to Yorktown in 2000. She was a lifelong member of Kenwood Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, and worked in the Southern Hotel during WWII. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceeded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Murray Ritter, Sr.; her parents, Margaret F. Collins and John T. Collins and a brother John Thomas Collins. She is survived by her son, John Murray Ritter, Jr. (June)

Margaret A. Downs, who lived in East Baltimore for many years, died Thursday of cardiac arrest at the Salisbury Nursing Home.Graveside services for Mrs. Downs, who was 84 and moved to Salisbury in 1985, are at 12:45 this afternoon at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, 7225 Eastern Ave.The former Margaret A. Wittmer was a native of Baltimore. Her husband, John Murray Downs, who retired as operator of the Hanover Street drawbridge, died in 1970.She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Sewell of Salisbury, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
