When the rosters for Major League Baseball's All-Star Game were announced, only 10 black players, including the Orioles' Adam Jones, were among the 64 picked for the American League and National League rosters. Among the 16 players chosen as starters by fan vote, only Derek Jeter of the Yankees is African-American. The 1979 All-Star Game, by contrast, featured 16 African-American players, including seven starters and seven future Hall-of-Famers. In 2009, a little more that 10 percent of all Major League Baseball players are black - the first increase in more than a decade but still a far cry from the close to 30 percent mark achieved in the mid-1970s.

Head coach: John Mayberry (eighth season).1889-1990 record: 10-3.Top wrestlers: Senior, Duke Koblinsky (130); juniors, Shawn Miller (112), Josh Marder (125), David Apple (140), Chris McTamany (145), Seth Lopatkiewicz (152) and Dave Maculey (160); sophomore, Charlie Bennett (103).Coach's outlook: "Our goals are to be competitive with everyone. I don't think anyone will be able to be with Old Mill, but we'll be strong right up to 130 pounds and I'd like to finish at about 11-3 or 10-4. We've only got 26 kids out for the team, so if anyone gets hurt we could be in deep trouble."

Brian Matusz may not realize that the Philadelphia Phillies are the National League's best team. For the second consecutive Grapefruit League outing, Matusz baffled the NL champions, this time no-hitting them through 5 1/3 innings in the Orioles' 2-0 win. Relievers Will Ohman and Jim Johnson kept the no-hitter going until the bottom of the eighth when John Mayberry Jr. singled off Dennis Sarfate with one out. Matusz allowed two...

It was by no means Brian Matusz's most impressive start of the spring, but as far as results go, the Orioles lefthander did his job. Matusz allowed seven hits over five innings Tuesday afternoon against the Phillies at Ed Smith Stadium, but yielded just one run to a Philadelphia lineup that included just three starters in the Phillies' 4-1 win over the Orioles. Matusz, who allowed leadoff hits in three innings, was aided by three double-play balls, and some home-field wind gusts.

The Orioles will host a Phillies split-squad team this afternoon at Ed Smith Stadium. Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez will make his first spring apparance for the Orioles, following starter Chris Tillman. He threw an indoor bullpen session with hitters tracking on Tuesday, and since he threw 35 pitches then, he will likely go at least two innings today against the Phillies, pitch count permitting. Tillman, making his second spring start today, allowed one hit and issued two walks while striking out one in his first start against Boston on Wednesday night.
