Rhode Island (2-4, 0-2 CAA) @Towson (2-4, 0-2 CAA) Time: 3:07 p.m. Site: Johnny Unitas Stadium TV/Radio: WNST (1570 AM) Outlook: The Tigers are hoping a raucous homecoming crowd will help propel them to their first Colonial Athletic Association win of the season. The Rams, fresh off a win over in-state rival Brown, are also winless in the conference. This could be a high-scoring game as both teams look to throw the ball early and often. Towson QB Sean Schaefer is averaging 246 passing yards; his counterpart, Rhode Island's Derek Cassidy, threw for 298 yards and five touchdowns last week.

Stiverson, the assistant Maryland state archivist. The volumes that former hospital board chairman John Birch discovered while cleaning his home contain the original minutes taken by the first board of directors of what was then called Annapolis Emergency Hospital, founded 90 years ago today.

Too distracted by a desire to follow his father and brother into military service during World War II, John "Joe" Fisher admits he often skipped school as a teenager and wasn't much interested when he did attend class. In 1945, Fisher was 16 and had completed the seventh grade at what is now Randallstown High when his mother, Evelyn, agreed to sign papers that would allow him to enlist in the U.S. Navy -- a year before he would be old enough to enlist on his own. "I wouldn't stay in school," he said last week while he leafed through a manila folder filled with military memories, including photos showing him with a dozen fellow recruits in an engineer school battalion.
