And you wonder why the rest of the country calls Baltimore bush league, no pun intended. Here is young lady, daughter of a two-term president and granddaughter of a president, vice president, head of the CIA, Congressman and World War II Navy pilot hero who could be living in tall cotton in Texas (vs. crime city Baltimore) and teaching in an exclusive community. But she is here teaching inner-city kids in this cesspool city, and some people get bent out of shape because she got a little "extra" attention because she was robbed ("Jenna Bush burglary commands attention," June 24)

Maybe she wasn't Hon material after all. Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager and her husband, Henry Hager, vacated their Federal Hill home more than two years ago, after the power couple left Baltimore for the Big Apple. But as long as they still owned property here -- and in particular, an "exquisite 3br-2.5ba end townhouse w/garage in federal hill, circa 1880" according to the listing on the real estate site homesnap.com -- we held out hope that the Hagers would once again succumb to the charms of Charm City.

I am writing in response to an article posted in the Sunday June 20 edition of the Baltimore Sun. The article was brief, but spoke of the recent misfortune of Jenna Bush Hager and her husband as they had their bicycles stolen out of their garage from their home in Federal Hill ("Two bikes are stolen from Jenna Bush Hager's garage"). I would like to be very clear up front and say that I am sorry for their loss, and this is not a letter criticizing them, their father's politics, or anything personal in nature whatsoever.

Rebel Wilson shines, confuses and titillates while hosting last night's 2013 MTV Movie Awards as tax-paying procrastinators struggled to submit their returns on a temporarily floundering TurboTax online. In gun control news, a sadly ironic turn of events took place at the first 500 Sprint Cup race sponsored by the NRA as a NASCAR fan shot himself in the head after an apparent argument with a fellow racing fan.  Other trends this morning involve the first grandchild for George W. and Laura Bush, the strains of running the Boston Marathon and the release of the first full trailer for the second "Hunger Games" movie, "Catching Fire.

Baltimore police are searching for two Trek mountain bicycles that were stolen from the rear garage of the South Baltimore rowhouse owned by former President George W. Bush's daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, and her husband. The break-in occurred Friday afternoon, but officers who initially responded to a burglar alarm reported at 1:22 p.m. did not find signs of a break-in and left, according to city police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. But the private alarm company notified the Hagers, who were out of town, and they called a neighbor and asked him to check the South Charles Street rowhouse when he returned home from work.

It's been about a year and a half since former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager and her husband, Henry, reportedly left their South Baltimore rowhouse for new digs in Manhattan. But Henry Hager still owns the Baltimore place — and the couple still enjoys a property tax break that's supposed to be available only to owner-occupants. The Hagers' tax credit this year is small: a $296.40 discount on a tax bill approaching $9,000. Still, why would they get any break as absentee owners? On Friday, a Baltimore Sun reporter knocked on the door of the Hagers' home.

While largely ignoring the trial of former U.S. Senator John Edwards, The Sun apparently found more breaking, vital news in Jenna Bush Hager and Henry Hager getting a less than $300 tax break on their second home/rental property while they live in permanent "digs in Manhattan" ("Bush kin gone but get homestead tax credit," May 1). In addition, there were lengthy details about their exact Baltimore property assessment and rental fees. Now that's breaking news. Are you kidding me?

I just finished reading the article about the police response to the theft of two expensive bikes owned by Jenna Bush Hager and her husband, while they were out of town ("Two bikes are stolen from Jenna Bush Hager's garage," June 20). Apparently, the first officers at the scene saw no evidence of a break-in and left. Once it was confirmed that a robbery had taken place, several police surveillance groups were "put on the lookout for the bikes." In addition, according to the article, "top police commanders, including the major in charge of the Southern District, also responded."

Henry Hager, the husband of former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager, is entitled to a $296 property tax discount on his South Baltimore rowhouse for the current tax year, the state Department of Assessments and Taxation says. An article Tuesday in The Baltimore Sun questioned the validity of Hager's homestead credit for the year that began July 1. The credit program is supposed to be available only to owner-occupants, and Hager has rented out the house since August - nearly the entire tax year.
