Maggie speaks! Niles flirts! George gets caught doing something ELSE embarrassing! It's all on tap tonight, on repeats of "The Simpsons," "Frasier" and "Seinfeld," respectively. The best rerun of all, though, comes courtesy of "Picket Fences."* "The Simpsons." (8-8:30 p.m., WBFF, Channel 45, and WTTG, Channel 5) -- Nice work if you can get it: Elizabeth Taylor gets a guest-starring vocal role on tonight's episode, but only has to say one word. However, it comes from the mouth of a babe -- and is Maggie's first, surprisingly touching word.

Getting tired of repeats? Me, too. At least the Orioles are playing better."Family Film Awards" (8 p.m.-10 p.m., WUSA, Channel 9) -- Sure, there are plenty of TV shows and movies out there for the entire XTC family. Here's an awards show to prove it, with Beau Bridges (he comes from a famous film family), Anna Chlumsky (she's a kid, and starred in a family film, "My Girl") and Joey Lawrence (he's a Lawrence brother, so you know he's G-rated) as hosts. Among the dominant film nominees: "Babe" and "Mr. Holland's Opus."

For the fourth time since her memorably successful series (1970-1979), Mary Tyler Moore gives the weekly grind another try with a new drama premiering tonight. Dueling network news shows also analyze the O. J. trial, and the A&E Network sings the blues.* "Murder, She Wrote" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) Wayne Rogers returns in another guest appearance as insurance investigator Charlie Garrett, looking into the death of a man in a car crash that also interests Jessica (Angela Lansbury).

Whether you're on the road and bound for a Thanksgiving destination, preparing food for tomorrow or just sitting around, don't feel any guilt about ignoring TV. For its part, TV will be ignoring quality tonight.* "Beverly Hills, 90210" (8-9 p.m., WBFF, Channel 45) -- Now that this show's spinoff series, "Melrose Place," has demonstrated just how much mileage can be gotten from showcasing a bad girl or two, "Beverly Hills, 90210" is quick to follow suit. (Actually, it was a little quicker, but most of Shannen Doherty's antics took place off-screen, so they don't really count.

If your circuits are overloaded and you have to choose tonight between running the air conditioner or watching TV, don't think twice. Stay cool."Seinfeld" (9 p.m.-9: 30 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- In this repeat from February, George (Jason Alexander), ever the under-achiever, tries to find someone just as unambitious to receive the first Susan Ross Scholarship, in memory of his fiancee, who died tragically while licking envelopes containing their wedding invitations. NBC."New York Undercover" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WBFF, Channel 45)

Tonight, ABC goes to the dogs, and the cats, with back-to-back specials on "Lassie" and lions. The fact that nothing else is of greater interest tonight suggests just how little interest you should have in TV this evening.* "Lassie Unleashed: 260 Dog Years in TV" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., Channel 13) -- Much as I loved "Lassie" as a kid, I can't drum up much enthusiasm for this latest anniversary special. It's true, though, that the black-and-white reruns still charm many kids, including mine. It's only when you're grown up that you notice how many of Lassie's whimpers are overdubbed.

Let's see: "Matlock" sends an attractive assistant to crack a murder case at a dating service, the cops of "New York Undercover" pose as video producers to crack a murder case in the porno industry, and even "Maigret" -- on PBS' "Mystery!" -- investigates the murder of a nightclub dancer. Could it be . . . Satan? Or is it . . . sweeps month? Either way, there are other alternatives.* "My So-Called Life" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., Channel 13) -- This is one show not to miss, even though most of America, judging from the ratings, fails to agree with that assessment.

The "Duckman" cometh, at 10:30 tonight on cable channel USA.It seems like everybody's trying to find "the next Simpsons" -- that hip, animated, adult comedy series that's going to work both as a cartoon and a parody of cartoons.L Remember Steven Spielberg's "Family Dog" on CBS -- arf, arf?ABC was the most recent outfit to think it had found the formula with "The Critic," which was created by some of the folks connected with "The Simpsons."ABC was wrong, and "The Critic" is on hiatus. Only its most fervent fans can hope for it to come back.

No complaints: Lots of good stuff is on hand, almost any time, and anywhere, you look.* "Mad About You" (8 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Channel 2) -- Eric Stoltz and Wendie Malick are very funny in their guest-starring roles tonight, but the very best thing about tonight's "Mad About You" is its clever story structure: Paul and Jamie (Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt) are shown at a party, and we alternate between their respective points of view as they interact with old friends and new acquaintances. NBC.* "My So-Called Life" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., Channel 13)
