Police say that Jonathon Todd Jarboe bragged to a friend that he would never be caught for robbing a pizza deliveryman, so they charged him.Mr. Jarboe, 22, of the first block of Madison St. in Westminster, was charged with robbery, theft and handgun violations after his arrest Friday. He was being held on $50,000 bond at the Carroll County Detention Center.Mr. Jarboe is accused of robbing Christopher Bell, a pizza deliveryman, in the first block of Liberty St. about 1 a.m. Aug. 8.Mr. Bell told police that he was approached by two men. A man wearing a stocking mask over his face pointed a gun at him and demanded, "Give me all your money."

A Carroll Circuit judge yesterday set bail for a Westminster man who has been in the county jail awaiting trial on charges that he robbed a pizza deliveryman and threatened a witness.Jonathon Todd Jarboe, of Madison Street, remained in the Carroll County Detention Center last night, but his attorney expected his father to post his house today as security for the $5,000 bond set by Circuit Judge Francis M. Arnold.Mr. Jarboe has been in jail for almost six months since he was charged in the Aug. 8, 1993, holdup of Christopher Bell, a Domino's Pizza deliveryman.

Potential jurors were lined up yesterday, but they never got the chance to be chosen to hear the case of a 23-year-old Westminster man charged with robbing a pizza deliveryman. One of the key prosecution witnesses didn't show up.The failure of Angela Bailey to appear in court yesterday morning forced Circuit Judge Francis M. Arnold to dismiss the potential jurors and postpone the trial of Jonathan Todd Jarboe of Madison Street.L Prosecutors said they did not know Ms. Bailey's whereabouts.

Prosecutors are asking a Carroll judge to deny a Westminster man's request to have robbery charges against him dropped because the state has twice been unable to produce its key witness at his trial.Nearly two weeks ago, a lawyer for Jonathan Todd Jarboe asked a Circuit Court judge to dismiss the armed robbery and witness-intimidation charges against him on grounds that the delays are denying Mr. Jarboe his "right to a speedy trial."In a response filed this week, Assistant State's Attorney Barton F. Walker III said dropping the charges would be inappropriate.

And seventh-ranked Maryland (7-2) proved ready for the task, getting a goal from Marcus LaChapelle with 1: 27 left to defeat the Midshipmen, 6-5, at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.Maryland -- up 46-33-1 in the series that started in 1924 -- won for the seventh straight time over Navy, which hasn't beaten the Terps on its home field since 1985.
