October 29, 1990
Theresa F. Jankowski, a homemaker who worked in a family-owned interior design business, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital after a month-long bout with cancer. She was 58 and resided on Rosalie Avenue in northeast Baltimore.A mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Jankowski will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 8420 Belair Road, Fullerton.The daughter of immigrants, the former Theresa Frances Lioi was born in Little Italy and educated at St. Leo's School.

I've been thinking a lot about the job market and career choices lately. Could you blame me, considering the upheaval in the media industry and other sectors in this dismal economy? Sifting through job sites and postings, I noticed that employers frequently ask you to submit salary requirements as part of the application package. I've always been stumped by this because you're often told to avoid throwing out the first number when it comes to salary negotiations. I asked Eileen Levitt, president of Columbia-based The HR Team, a human resources consultant firm, and Mark Jankowski, president of Shapiro Negotiations Institute in Baltimore, which offers corporate training seminars, to share their thoughts on this matter.

An overturned pickup truck was one of six vehicles smashed together or tipped over at a Bel Air car dealership last week after someone gained access to a backhoe being used in nearby construction. A patrol officer noticed a truck on its side early Tuesday at Schaeffer & Strohminger Dodge during a routine patrol. Upon further investigation, the officer discovered five other 2006 Dodge pickups with damage, according to police. Employees said other equipment had been moved as well. "We found it to be completely bizarre," said Joe Jankowski, chief executive officer of Schaeffer & Strohminger.
