Roman Catholics can't attend Mass or be absolved of their sins on-line, but in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, they will soon be able to conduct a lot of other parish and spiritual business via computer.At St. Jane Frances de Chantal parish in Riviera Beach, parishioners can have the parish bulletin delivered by computer days before it's handed out in church and check the calendar for future events. Parents with children in parish schools can keep tabs on their youngsters' homework assignments and send messages to teachers, who have computers on their desks.

ST. JANE FRANCES School in Riviera Beach will close out its celebration of Catholic Schools Week at 6: 30 tonight with a family bingo night sponsored by the Home School Association.The week has been packed with activities to spotlight the efforts of the students, parents, teachers and administration, said Rene Hammond, assistant principal.Monday, the school dedicated its technology network system. Ronald Valenti, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and Nancy Gilroy, assistant superintendent, joined visitors, staff members and local business donors for the ceremony, during which 26 computers were added to the school's network.

Peter R. Payne, 70, naval architectPeter Rowland Payne, a naval architect for more than 30 years, died Dec. 10 of an aneurysm at his Severna Park home. He was 70.A native of England, he moved to Canada in 1953 and to Maryland in 1964. The next year he began working out of his home office.Mr. Payne enjoyed singing, tennis and golf and was a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Annapolis Chorale and St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Annapolis.Services were Saturday.

Neatly tucked into a corner of the fields behind St. Jane Frances School, in the heart of what old-timers call "The Beach," on Chelsea Road, is a new playground. Bordered by tons of mulch, the shiny equipment is a monument to the life of 2-year-old Jordan Ambrozewicz by his family and community.For more than a year after the toddler drowned in May 1995, money donated by the community to Jordan's Fund to help with funeral expenses, sat in a bank account unused. Seeking a way to help others, the family and St. Jane Frances parish members, decided to donate to the school's tiny playground fund.

PASADENA IS FINALLY beginning to emerge from winter hibernation. We've got Broadway shows, Shakespeare, dinners, roasts and events coming out of the woodwork.St. Jane Frances School in Riviera Beach will present a "Broadway Musical Revue" at 8 p.m. tonight in the parish hall.More than 60 students from the school chorus, under the direction of music teacher Charles Alexander, will sing hit songs from Broadway musicals, such as "Cats," "Godspell," "Evita," "Oklahoma," and "The Sound of Music."

The theme is "Keep Faith in Your Child's Future," the school motto.The Home School Association gets a head start on the activities with a roller-skating party for students and their families from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow at Pasadena Skating Rink.School families are invited to attend the 9 a.m. Mass Sunday at St. Jane Frances Roman Catholic Church for the formal beginning of the week's activities and to honor the winners of the Audrey Smith Memorial award for volunteers of the year.

The choice is up to you.The parish of St. Jane Frances de Chantal is sponsoring its annual three-day fall festival starting this evening on the church grounds, 8499 Virginia Ave. in Riviera Beach.Festival hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. today, noon to 11 p.m. tomorrow and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.Carnival rides and games will be set up outside. More games, bingo and a used book sale will be held inside the school hall.

Marie E. Watts, 78, steel plant worker, domesticMarie E. Watts, who worked as a domestic and at Bethlehem Steel Corp.'s Sparrows Point plant during World War II, died Friday of complications of cancer at Maryland General Hospital. She was 78 and lived in Baltimore.In 1941, the Baltimore native was one of many women hired at the steel plant while men were drafted into military service during World War II. She left Sparrows Point in 1944 and did domestic work.She married the late James Lee in 1934, and they divorced in 1942.

Bernadette Fischer has served as an English, social studies and mathematics teacher at St. Jane Frances School for 29 years. Once a year, Fischer and the 49 educators at the school are served by students and their parents.Wednesday night, as they have annually for a decade, the youngsters and adults prepared an appreciation dinner for the school's faculty and staff."I've been here so long that I've taught some of the parents," Fischer, 59, said with a smile. "It's always nice to see them again."
