On April 01, 2008; MATTIE A. DAVIS. Mrs. Mattie A. Davis is survived by her loving husband, James L. Davis, four children: Marilyn Riddick, James C. Davis, Wilma Davis and Vivian Davis, two sisters, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. On Sunday friends may call at the St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 101 Avonbeach Rd. (Turner Station), from 4:00-7:00PM. On Monday, Mrs. Davis will lie instate at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 101 Avonbeach Rd., where the family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00AM with services to follow.

JAMES W. DAVIS, JR., born June 11, 1936, the oldest son of the late Charlotte and James W. Davis, Sr., departed this life after a brief illness on April 21, 2005 at Sinai Hospital. He is survived by his two children Kirk Davis and Kristy Davis Frizzell, one sister, Lorraine Davis, three brothers, John, Troy, and Cornell Davis, five grandchildren plus a host of cherished relatives and friends. The memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1225 R Street N.W. Washington, D.C. with viewing at 10:30 A.M. followed by the service at 12 noon.

On Sunday, February 5, 2006, DWIGHT WORTH DAVIS, beloved husband of Margaret. Loving father of Dwight W. Davis, Jr., David G. Davis and Barbara Ann Davis; also survived by six grandchildren and one sibling James Davis. Dwight W. Davis was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and he worked for the Canton Company and Canton Railroad until he retired. A private family memorial service will be held at Dellinger Funeral Home, 5997 S. Main Street, Mt. Jackson, VA 22842 on Thursday, February 9 at 2 P.M. Interment Mt. Jackson Cemetery.

County police Chief Larry Tolliver will promote nine officers and four sergeants at a ceremony tomorrow at Anne Arundel Community College, a police spokeswoman said.The ceremony will begin at 11: 30 a.m. in Building K on the campus in Arnold.Rhonda Osborne, Fred Plitt, Jeffrey Collins, Pamela Davis, James Davis, James Batten, S. Vaughn Dykes, Edward Bergin, and Wayne Vernon are to be promoted to sergeant.Athena Baker, Thomas Wheeler, Timothy Walker and Jeffrey Kelly are being promoted to lieutenant.

Denisch, dear sister of James Davis, loving grandmother of Samuel J., Alexander P. and Anna M. Denisch, former wife of David A. Denisch, Sr., D.D.S. The family will receive friends at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 York Rd., (bltwy exit 26A), on Sunday from 6 to 8 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held in the Central Presbyterian Church on Monday at 11 A.M. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

Hertz (nee Hollander); loving father of Lois Hertz of Atlanta, GA; dear father-in-law of James Davis; adored brother of Naomi Hertz of Delray Beach, FL and the late Walter Hertz; loving grandfather of Justin, Jeffrey, Seth and Ari Davis and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
