Severna Park girls soccer streak endsThe longest girls soccer win streak in national history ended last night at Severna Park, where South River tied the top-ranked Falcons, 1-1, in overtime.Severna Park's three-time defending state 4A/3A champions had won 46 straight games since tying Northeast, 1-1, on Oct. 11, 1987. The Falcons' streak broke the 41 consecutive wins by Agura (California) High School in 1987-91, according to the "1991 National High School Sports Record Book."Severna Park remains unbeaten in its past 54 games (52-0-2)

LORMAN, Miss. - From a sixth-floor office overlooking 1,700 blooming acres, Clinton Bristow Jr. shared a vision recently - one that verges on reality. Bristow, president of Alcorn State University, a predominantly black college founded 130 years ago to teach former slaves how to grow cotton, wants to transform his rural campus into a research center with state-of-the-art food science labs, health care programs and an agribusiness degree that will attract the best students anywhere, black and white.
