ON THE MIKE, she's nasty, her lyrics bold and salty. But on the phone, Jacki-O seems a little shy at first. The Miami-bred rapper is calling from Atlanta, where she's promoting her recently released debut, Poe Little Rich Girl. For the past week or so, the CD has been one of my guilty pleasures. At home or in the car, I find myself singing along to the X-rated lyrics -- not a line of which can be reprinted in a family paper. But beyond the Tabasco-hot, in-your-face sexuality of the rhymes, there's Jacki-O's tight lyrical dexterity and the album's solid production quality, courtesy of Timbaland, Jazze Pha, Red Spyda and others.

A pitcher whose repertoire included smoke bombs, sneezing powder and live snakes. A catcher who bought cattle during road trips and hauled livestock in his Cadillac. An outfielder known to run the bases backward and spout maxims like, "This year I'm going to play with harder nonchalance." What strange birds these Orioles can be. Moe Drabowsky, Clint Courtney and Jackie Brandt are just three of the characters who have played for Baltimore through the years. "Every player has a few screws loose because of the pressure of that goldfish-bowl existence," said Dick Hall, an Orioles pitcher in the 1960s and '70s.
