Baltimore County police were investigating the suspicious death of a man found in a pool in Garrison, a department spokesman said Sunday. The man was found in the pool in the 8100 block of McDonogh Road about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene but has not yet been identified. The man's body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy, police said. Two men were shot in Lansdowne on Saturday night, and Baltimore County police are looking for possible suspects. The victims were reported around the 3000 block of Bero Road, police spokesman Lt. Robert McCullough said. They were transported to local hospitals. As of Sunday night, one man had been released from the hospital and the other was listed in serious condition, McCullough said. Corrections officers at the Baltimore City Detention Center were preparing for a middle-of-the-night search of jail cells, aimed at rooting out drugs, cellphones, weapons and any other contraband inmates had stashed away. But the officers weren't the only ones getting ready. Hours before the planned checks in January, an FBI affidavit says, word reached Tavon White, an inmate who prosecutors say reigned as the jailhouse leader of a violent gang called the Black Guerrilla Family. White's alleged tipster, according to court records: a corrections officer at the jail.

The FBI had previously been warned by the Russian government that the 26-year-old Boston bombing terrorist Tamerlan Tsarnaev was being radicalized ("Bombing suspect faces U.S. charges," April 23). National advocacy groups for people with Down syndrome are seeking an independent investigation into the January death of a Frederick County man after off-duty sheriff's deputies tried to remove him from a movie theater. Robert Ethan Saylor, 25, suffocated on Jan. 12 after three Frederick County sheriff's deputies attempted to remove him from the Theater 9 Westview Cinemas in Frederick. Anne Arundel County Executive Laura A. Neuman has launched an investigation into allegations that county Police Chief Larry Tolliver used homophobic slurs and retaliated against officers whose testimony led to her predecessor's criminal conviction for misconduct. Police on Tuesday worked to find out more about the backgrounds of the two men wounded and one man killed in an overnight shootout with officers in West Baltimore. The incident took place about 10 p.m. Monday after two officers on foot patrol in the 2700 block of Edmondson Ave. saw gunfire coming out of a bronze sedan, police said. The officers fired on the car, police said. All three men shot were in the vehicle, police said. Police did not know the dead man's identity Tuesday and were running his fingerprints through databases.

The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating whether the body of a man that washed up against a homeowner's pier in southern Anne Arundel County on Thursday is that of a crew member who went missing from a commercial container ship late last year. Officials with the state's Department of Natural Resources Police alerted the Coast Guard of the body, which was found in Deale, about 7:40 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Peter Francisco, a Coast Guard marine investigator. "Whenever there is a body recovered, that's cross-referenced against all missing people that the Coast Guard has searches for," Francisco said.

Baltimore City police say they are investigating a shooting late Saturday in the Dudley Avenue area. Police said that at 10:47 p.m., they responded to the 3300 block of Dudley Ave. for a report of a shooting and found an adult male, shot in the back and lower body. He was transported to an area hospital. Police did not identify the man, and there was no immediate information on his condition. Police said detectives are investigating. Staff Reports

Harford County Sheriff's deputies say they made a grisly discovery early Sunday morning after receiving a call at 9:30 a.m. asking them to check on the well-being of an Edgewood resident. Deputies arriving at the house in the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way, found the home locked but could hear a TV playing inside, according to Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Edward Hopkins. No one came to the door, and as they continued their search, deputies observed blood and a body on the floor, officials said.
