The Baltimore Arena will be a first- and second-round site for the 1995 NCAA men's tournament, Thursday, March 16 and Saturday, March 18 of next year. UMBC will serve as host, and tickets will be available through a public lottery sale from 10 a.m. to noon on April 2 at the Arena and the UMBC Fieldhouse.Or, you can send a self-addressed, 3 x 5 postcard to: NCAA Tickets, UMBC Fieldhouse, 5401 Wilkens Ave., Baltimore, Md. 21228-5398. There is a maximum of two tickets per person. One all-session ticket, for six games, is $96; individual game tickets will not be sold.

The Orioles will hold their annual FanFest at the Baltimore Convention Center on Jan. 23 and will put individual game tickets on sale that morning. The event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature current and former Orioles players and coaches signing autographs and participating in question-and-answer forums. There also will be forums with front-office staff and media; clinics for children on a youth-sized baseball field; exhibits; memorabilia dealers; interactive games; and the opportunity to apply for seasonal employment with the organization.

Individual game tickets for the Bowie Baysox will go on sale tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Prince George's Stadium ticket office.Ticket office hours will be Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., until the start of the season.On game days, the ticket office will open at 10 a.m. and remain in operation until the middle of the fifth inning. Individual game tickets for every Orioles game except Opening Day will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 11 at the ticket windows at the north end of the warehouse, online at www.orioles.com, via phone at 888-848-BIRD, and at the Orioles team stores in York, Pa. and Washington, D.C. The Orioles sold more than 10,000 tickets in the first 10 minutes that individual game tickets for the 1999 season went on sale yesterday. Club officials expected to sell approximately 60,000 tickets with phone sales available through 9: 30 p.m.Lines began forming outside the Orioles Box Office at Camden Yards early Friday morning for tickets that went on sale at 9 a.m. yesterday. Through 4 p.m., the Orioles had sold 52,661 tickets.Tickets will be on sale today from noon to 5 p.m. For information, call 410-685-9800.

Individual game tickets for the Orioles' 1997 home games will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Jan. 18.Tickets may be purchased Jan. 18 at Oriole Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Jan. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets will also be on sale through Ticketmaster phone charge at (410) 481-SEAT.Seats in all price categories are available for every game except Opening Day. A limit of 12 seats per game for up to eight games is in effect Jan. 18-19. Tickets will remain on sale Jan. 20-24 at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster phone charge.

The Bowie Baysox will retain minor-league ticket prices during the team's 1993 stay at Memorial Stadium, general manager Keith Lupton announced yesterday, as the Orioles' Double-A affiliate opened its ticket operation.Individual game tickets will go on sale Feb. 22. Box seats will be $7 per game and general admission tickets $5. Tickets are $3 for youths 6-17 years old, senior citizens and active military. Children 5 and under will be admitted free, as will children in youth sports uniforms (cap and jersey)

The large crowd that turned out for Orioles FanFest yesterday left little doubt that the team's offseason improvement program was a public relations triumph, even if it is not yet clear whether the new-look Orioles will be able to change the long-standing balance of power in the American League East. More than 15,000 fans packed the Baltimore Convention Center -- believed to be a one-day record for the event -- and club officials buzzed about the brisk business at the advance ticket booths and a sharp surge in full and partial season-ticket orders.

They may be frustrated and pessimistic about the coming season, but nearly 40 Orioles fans braved the coldest weather of the winter Friday night and Saturday morning to guarantee themselves prime bleacher seats. That's the type of hard-core devotion they have for the Orioles, who sold 57,000 tickets by 5 p.m. yesterday, the first day individual game tickets for the 2000 season became available. So although the team has watched its wins decline recently, it appears it has yet to lose one of the strongest fan bases in the major leagues.

Opening Day is less than a week away, but thousands of Orioles season-ticket holders still have not received their ticket books because the printer failed to make them.Most of the team's 22,000 season-ticket account holders, including all full-season plan buyers, have received their tickets. But 6,000 accounts, representing about 160,000 individual game tickets, won't get theirs until early next week."The tickets are being printed as we speak," Orioles vice chairman Joe Foss said last night.

By the time the Ravens game began in New York at 1 p.m. yesterday, the ticket-buying crowd at Memorial Stadium had virtually disappeared. But for about 3 1/2 hours yesterday morning, business at the ticket office was booming as individual game tickets for the regular season went on sale.The Ravens sold 18,000 tickets yesterday, according to Roy Sommerhof, Ravens director of ticket operations, including all 6,000 that were available for the Sept. 1 opener against the Oakland Raiders and the Dec. 1 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
