In a story published Wednesday, the channel responsible for producing "Howard Daily" was identified incorrectly. The show is produced by Channel 15 and appears on CNN's Channel 16. News anchorwoman Pia Jordan was also misidentified.Channel 16 has launched a news program for county residents that will focus on area issues and events."Howard Daily" is a five-minute segment aired hourly (although on no particular schedule) on the same station that Howard Cable Television Associates uses to carry CNN "Headline News."

WASHINGTON -- Special Iran-contra prosecutor Lawrence E. Walsh, already under sharp criticism for the high costs of his prolonged investigation, drew a new complaint yesterday from government auditors over his personal expenses.The General Accounting Office, although not saying that Mr. Walsh intentionally broke any laws or rules, found that he had charged the government $78,000 more than federal law allows for room and board in Washington and while traveling.Mr. Walsh got $95 a day for a room at Washington's famous Watergate Hotel, even when he did not stay in the room, and that was wrong even if he could claim some room rent here, the audit report said.

In yesterday's editions, a Mount St. Joseph baseball playe who misplayed a line drive was identified incorrectly as Knoll Axt. Bob Neighoff was the right fielder who committed the error.The Sun regrets the error.Archbishop Curley's James Libber just wouldn't give in to Mount St. Joseph. Not on the mound and not in the outfield.For 6 1/3 innings, the senior left-hander contained the Gaels' solid offense. After he was relieved, he made two game-saving catches in center field, as Curley held off the host Gaels, 5-3, to advance to today's Maryland Scholastic Association A Conference Tournament championship game.

The mother of St. Paul's School football player Tro Thingelstad, co-winner of the 1992 Scholar Athlete Award, was identified incorrectly in Thursday's editions of The Sun. Her name is Kathleen Rist-Thingelstad.The Sun regrets the error.In one of the more emotional evenings in the 29-year history of the Scholar Athlete Award, Troy Thingelstad of St. Paul's School and Joey Goodwin of South Carroll High were named co-winners of the 1992 Scholar Athlete Award by the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame last night at Martin's West.

Because of an editing error in yesterday's editions, horse breeders Nick and Elaine Bassford were identified incorrectly as owners of Heavenly Prize, who won the Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park Saturday.The Sun regrets the error.Irish Forever delivered.The little chestnut filly, bought at the Timonium Fairgrounds for a bargain price in May, came from next-to-last in the eight-horse field and won the $145,400 Selima Stakes yesterday with authority over a yeilding turf course.It was the biggest career victory at Laurel Race Course for trainer Billy Boniface, whose greatest moments in the state have occurred at Pimlico.

She had four starters back from a team that went 16-2 and lost in the state semifinals, but there were many questions beyond that group. With improvement expected from rivals Perry Hall and Catonsville, the Raiders weren't assured of another Baltimore County title, but they won their third in a row. McPherson knew early that it could be a good year, once the Raiders began "playing well together and really supporting each other," she said.

In yesterday's editions of The Sun, Ronnie Smuck wa identified incorrectly as a co-promoter of an unsanctioned boxing show that had been scheduled at Tiffany East in June. John DiRossi was the sole director of the event, which was enjoined by the Maryland State Athletic Commission. Mr. DiRossi, who said the show would benefit the United Society of the Handicapped, raised $500 for Easter Seals through the advance sale of tickets for the non-sanctioned card.The Sun regrets the errors.Baltimore welterweight Eddie Van Kirk has been suspendefor a year by the Maryland State Athletic Commission.
