June (which for the networks begins when sweeps ends, in this case last Wednesday) can be kinda funky on TV, as the networks start dumping all the specials and series odds-and-ends that they figure nobody's going to watch anyway. Keep your eyes open for a gem or two."Harry Anderson: The Tricks of His Trade" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- Exponentially better than any episode of "Dave's World," this special places Anderson in his element: playing the small-time card shark and sleight-of-hand artist.

* Item: Godiva Ice Cream* What you get: 12.5 ounces* Cost: About $3.75* Preparation time: Serve from package* Review: As a longtime aficionado of Godiva chocolates, I wondered if the company's new premium ice cream flavors were worth their relatively steep price. I can happily report that they are (although I wouldn't buy this ice cream regularly or waste it on nonadult palates). We served the White Chocolate Raspberry and Belgian Dark Chocolate to friends after dinner. The chocolate was as rich as expected, given Godiva's reputation.

In the corner stands a large plastic yellow cone topped by brown ice cream, with swirls of black. Tubs of ice cream -- chocolate, strawberry, mint-chip and more -- are displayed at the counter. And glossy posters of rich, colorful, whipped cream-deluged ice cream line the walls. At first glance, it looks like any other ice cream parlor. But where else than at the Harbor Fudge & Ice Cream Shop in Millersville could you sample a chicoo ice cream cone or order a mango ice cream cake? Most of the people who drop in stick with tradition.

It's time to dish up a second helping of the history of ice cream in Baltimore. In recalling some of the great old Baltimore confectioners who were still churning out their own superb chocolate and vanilla ice cream in the mid-1950s, I left out a number of those manufacturers whose wares I had never sampled or who had gone out of business before my birth. I certainly heard about these omissions. My mother, Stewart Monaghan Kelly, was the first to point out many departed makers and their parlors.

Betty Kincheloe of Kelso, Wash., asked for help in finding a misplaced recipe for strawberry ice cream that uses frozen berries. Alma Brockman of Toledo, Wash., responded with tester Laura Reiley's choice. "I don't recall the source of this recipe. It's been around the house for perhaps 25 or more years. My family members and guests all loved it," Brockman said. Recipe requests Bill Wise of Chestertown and the 1950 class of Forest Park High School is seeking a recipe for the cinnamon buns that were served in the school's cafeteria.
