Except for the lack of a swimsuit issue, Geezerjock - a new magazine targeting older athletes - could be called Sports Illustrated for Seniors. The slick publication, launched this year, includes a similar format of feature stories, event coverage, profiles and eye-catching photography as SI - with one major difference. All of Geezerjock's content is focused on Masters' level competitors and competitions. "Masters" is commonly used to refer to sporting events for men and women amateur athletes 40 or 50 and above.

SALT LAKE CITY - The Mid-American Conference has been a giant-killer in the NCAA tournament for several years, and Central Michigan didn't disappoint last night in the opening round of the West Regional at the Huntsman Center. While the 11th-seeded Chippewas didn't knock off one of college basketball's big-name teams, they did provide the first big upset in this year's tournament with a wild 79-73 victory over sixth-seeded Creighton. Led by senior forward Mike Manciel, who scored 15 of his career-high 29 points in the first half, Central Michigan (25-6)

In the Region New owner plans no change for health supply firm American Homecare Supply LLC, the Pennsylvania parent of Mid Atlantic Health Care of Owings Mills, has been acquired by Air Products, a Fortune 500 company also based in Pennsylvania, the companies said yesterday. Bob Cucuel, chief executive officer of American Homecare, said there would " be no change" in the operations of Mid Atlantic, an 11-year-old subsidiary with 140 employees. Mid Atlantic, which also has an office in Beltsville, supplies respiratory therapy, infusion therapy and home medical equipment.

FORMER ANNE Arundel resident Michael Impellizzeri has moved from amateur shutterbug to professional photographer with the self-publication of his book, "Impressions of the Natural World: An Inspirational Journey."The book contains 64 outdoor photos taken from Maryland to Yellowstone National Park.Each is accompanied by a quotation."There's no political message except that we have a beautiful country out there," said Impellizzeri.He lived in Anne Arundel for 25 years before he moved to Florida last year after retiring from the federal Department of Transportation.

Last night, their intention was to earn a little respect.And Texas (23-7) did just that, using its defensive pressure to spark a 90-73 victory over sixth-seeded Oregon in a West Regional first-round game at the Huntsman Center.Terrence Rencher scored 19 points and backcourt mate Roderick Anderson added 15 for Texas, which advanced to tomorrow's second round against No. 3 seed Maryland."I'm happy we got the 11th seed," Texas coach Tom Penders said afterward.

DALLAS -- Texaco Inc. has agreed to sell its Texaco Chemical Co. and almost all its worldwide chemical operations to a joint venture controlled by two billionaires, Jon M. Huntsman of Utah and Kerry Packer of Australia, for $1.06 billion, the two parties said yesterday.Texaco said the sale would allow it to focus on its core oil and gas business.The deal would be the largest in a series of acquisitions that Mr. Huntsman has made since 1982 to build his closely held #F Huntsman Financial Corp.
