Hostetter, Jr., and David O. Hostetter. Ms. Hostetter is also survived by her spouse Mark Holman, father of Evan. The children of war have gathered in a small Carroll County town to talk about peace.About 70 Bosnian students who are attending American high schools and colleges arrived at the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor on Wednesday for three days of conferences and a little holiday merriment.Lunch hour in Ziegler Hall yesterday was festive, filled with young people engaged in lively conversations.A student played the piano with music so recognizable that many chimed in with lyrics. They posed for pictures and coaxed smiles and more songs from one another.

Eight area residents spent Saturday polling their neighbors, asking for opinions on the annexation of the 110-acre Phillips property.Poll organizers said of the 115 town residents contacted, 61 said they were against the annexation, 19 favored it and 15 said they had no opinion. Twenty people did not want to participate.Although the rainy day before Easter was not the ideal time for the door-to-door survey, the poll takers said they wanted to complete their work before Thursday -- the last day to submit written commentsfollowing an April 13 public hearing on annexing the site, north of here.

The Westminster City Council awarded a $658,000 contract to Hostetter Construction Co. last night to convert a former auto parts store into police headquarters, but deferred action on an elevator to increase accessibility for the disabled.The council's consensus at a special meeting favored an elevator despite strong opposition from Councilman Stephen R. Chapin Sr., who said he doesn't think one is needed."I see this council going more to spending and taxing, and I don't like it," he said.

Also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2006, at 2 P.M., at the Harmony Chapel Cemetery in Port Deposit, Maryland.
