Hammond senior forward Katie Fink and Wilde Lake junior goalie Sarah Hobart suffered season-ending soccer injuries in games earlier this week.Fink, one of the county's fastest players, is out after the fibula in her right leg was broken in a tackle by Wilde Lake sweeper Katie Kurcz minutes into their game Tuesday at Wilde Lake. Hobart was taking a goal kick when she cracked her pelvis during a CSC Ravens club match Sunday.Fink, who had four goals and an assist for the 12th-ranked Golden Bears (5-0 overall, 1-0 league)

Syracuse University is becoming what Orangemen coach Roy Simmons calls the "Mecca of northern lacrosse."Because most grass fields in the Northeast are still covered with snow, Syracuse has been sponsoring doubleheaders at the Carrier Dome and allowing visiting teams to use the school's outdoor artificial turf field.On Saturday, Georgetown and Rutgers met in the dome after the Syracuse-Towson State game, while Boston College and Michigan State played outside.This Saturday, Hobart will play Ohio Wesleyan in the dome after the Orangemen's game against Brown.

Howell and wife Pollyann. Loving sister of the late Pauline Moxley. Also survived by six grandchildren, Rebecca, Andrew and Bryan Howell, Cora, Jordan and Brandan Desombre. Services will be held at the family owned McComas Funeral Home P.A., in Bel Air, MD on Monday March 30, 2009 at 11 AM. Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD.
