On Sunday, August 1, 2004, EDNA S. EITEMILLER, 99. She was the mother and mother-in-law of Edna Ruth and Vernon Miller of Hilton Head Island, SC. Survived by three grandchildren, Patricia Lynn Miller, Kathryn Suzanne Miller and Mary Carol Gavin and her husband Michael Todd Gavin and two great-grandchildren Hannah Elizabeth Gavin and Sarah Carin Gavin. She was preceded in death by her husband M. Earl Eitemiller and daughter Catherine Seamon. Memorial service will be held 2:30 P.M, Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church, Towson, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Evangelical Lutehran Church, 7601 York Road, Towson, MD, or the Seabrook Endowment Fund, 300 Woodhaven Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29928.

AUTHUR L. CHRISTENSON, born July 17, 1927 in Astoria Queens, NY, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006. A resident of Mountain Lakes, NJ from 1962-1993. He was a Marine Engineer, V.P. of Foster Wheeler Boiler Corp, with whom he worked from 1956-1993, following 10 years with Merchant Marines. He relocated to Sea Pines, Hilton Head Island, SC. He was an active member of The Yacht Club of Hilton Head Island. Arthur was a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers; Society of Marine Port Engineers; The Navy League; and an instructor for the United States Power Squadron.

Beloved wife of the late George Henry Petry; loved mother of Toni "Antoinette" Abram of London Ontario Canada and Mickey "Michele" Froats and husband Ted Froats of Barrie Ontario Canada. Cherished Nana of Chantel Helsdon Seabrook, Danielle Froats and Mark Abram. Also loved by great-grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Seabrook. Predeceased by son Mark Petry.

It was home to the first school for black freedmen in the aftermath of the Civil War. A century later, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and other visionaries gathered here frequently to forge paths of understanding and togetherness. Today, the Penn Center on St. Helena Island, S.C., remains an inspiration -- a standing symbol of hope, perseverance and pride -- as well as a place for African-Americans to celebrate their culture and its roots. For travelers, the center's York W. Bailey Museum represents the perfect introduction to Gullah, as people on this small island, almost all of African descent, know their language and culture.

Frank Blair, 79, an anchorman on NBC's "Today" show for 22 years, died of an undisclosed cause Tuesday in Hilton Head Island, S.C.. His death came 20 years to the day that he gave his last newscast on "Today," which he joined in 1952 as White House and Capitol correspondent. He anchored NBC's news desk from 1953 to 1975.

Hamer of Newville, PA and Susan Howard Paules of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
