Outside the Millersville shop, a sign reads "Consignment." Bu inside, nothing hints of the old or the used.Again & Again Kids Consignment smells of fresh paint and new carpet. A colorful border lines the top of the walls. Clothes hanging from the racks have no stains, holes or worn spots. Most of the clothes have been worn before, though. And that's just fine with Linda Higdon."I don't buy anything new anymore," said the Millersville resident, a consignment shop junkie and mother of two boys, ages 10 and 4.In August, Severna Park resident Lynn Hentschel, who has spent seven years selling retail clothing, opened the store in Northway Shopping Center to deal exclusively in children's clothing, toys and furniture.

Shortly after signing a new five-year contract that will keep her in the post of Baltimore Symphony Orchestra music director until 2015, Marin Alsop led the ensemble in a hefty program Thursday night that included the East Coast premiere of Jennifer Higdon's Violin Concerto. Written for Baltimore's own classical music star, Hilary Hahn, it's a killer of a concerto for the soloist, and it asks a lot of listeners, too. Cast in three movements, the half-hour concerto makes a grand statement, packed with thematic material and expansive development, all of it delivered with extraordinarily prismatic colors.

Balloons of black, purple, and football-shaped mylar danced above dozens of purple-draped tables set up at Michael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie. Some 930 Baltimore Ravens football fans came from all over Maryland for the "Second Annual Benefit Bull & Oyster Roast" raising more than $12,000 for Ravens Roost 27, Duane Starks Charitable Foundation and the Cal Ripken, Jr./Lou Gehrig Fund for Neuromuscular Research. There was plenty to do - dance to the DJ, play game wheels for the chance to win plants, and browse the buffet featuring raw oysters, barbecue, Italian sausages, and turkey.

NEW YORK -- Carnegie Hall put out the purple Monday night to welcome the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for the opening of Spring For Music, a week-long festival showcasing American orchestras playing adventurous programs. Ravens-colored cloths adorned the seat backs of the musicians' chairs and the conductor's podium; more cloths were handed out to audience members to wave on cue in a salute to Baltimore. That cue came before the music started when an announcer from local radio stationĀ  WQXR interviewed the BSO's high-profile booster, Gov. Martin O'Malley, onstage.
