Seven-year-old Ava Dennis, a first-grader at Hollifield Station Elementary School, likes to jump-rope or climb on the playground equipment during recess. But sometimes all that exercise makes her stomach hurt. "We eat and then we run around, and we don't feel so good after that," she said. Her mother, Donna Dennis, a nutrition consultant, recommended a solution that Principal Glenn Heisey will implement at the Ellicott City school in August: Students will have recess first, then lunch.

A National Security Agency employee agreed to a plea bargain yesterday and was ordered to serve 30 days in jail for harassing Howard County school district employees and making false statements to the Board of Education. Robert Hunter Johnson of the 9400 block of Tiller Drive in Ellicott City pleaded guilty to making false statements for writing letters and e-mail erroneously accusing Glenn Heisey, principal of Hollifield Station Elementary School, of being sexually involved with young boys, and writing letters alleging that Hollifield Station guidance counselor Susan Castelbaum and her husband, Jed, had committed crimes against their children.

A Howard County elementary school principal is suing an Ellicott City parent who wrote letters and e-mail messages that falsely accused him of sexually abusing young boys. Hollifield Station Elementary Principal Glenn Heisey's lawsuit comes one month after Robert Hunter Johnson, whose children attended the school, pleaded guilty to making a false statement and was sentenced to a month in jail. The letters hurt Heisey's standing in the community and among his peers and left the principal in "fear of his health and safety," according to the lawsuit, which was filed in Howard Circuit Court last week.

An elementary school guidance counselor and her husband are suing a National Security Agency employee who admitted to sending letters that falsely accused the husband of sexually abusing their daughter. Hollifield Station Elementary guidance counselor Susan Castelbaum and her husband, Jed, filed a lawsuit against Robert Hunter Johnson last week, alleging that his "extreme and outrageous" actions defamed them and caused them emotional "stress." Johnson, 44, of Ellicott City was charged criminally as a result of the correspondence, which also targeted Hollifield Station Principal Glenn Heisey.
