An intense, widespread storm system spawned at least one tornado Friday and battered parts of the Baltimore region with damaging winds and torrential rain, halting flights and flooding roads during rush hour. The storm ripped through Harford County, doing the most severe damage to a triangular area bordered by Belair Road, Harford Road and Route 152. What witnesses said was a tornado uprooted some trees, sheared off the tops of others, tore down power lines, collapsed two small buildings, sent at least one person to Maryland Shock Trauma Center and brought much of the greater Fallston area to a halt.

As a resident of Baltimore County, I am opposed to CZMP Issue 5-019 filed by JC Bar (CVS). The issue is one of public safety and continued quality of life in Carney. The proposed CVS location is on Harford Road only slightly south of the intersection of Harford and Joppa roads. Having vehicles, both northbound and southbound on Harford Road, enter and exit from CVS at this point so close to the failing intersection of Joppa and Harford roads will be very unsafe. What the failing intersection does not need is another large commercial enterprise to disrupt the traffic flow at this critical point on Harford Road.

A customer was shot Tuesday evening during a robbery at a Royal Farms on Harford Road near Echodale Avenue in Baltimore's Hamilton neighborhood. Police say the two robbers fled on foot. He was conscious and breathing as medics took him to Johns Hopkins Hospital. As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Moses said the victim was hospitalized in good condition and, barring any setbacks, was scheduled for release later in the day. According to witnesses, two seemingly masked men — one armed with a silver handgun — came in and announced a robbery, Moses said.
