At Maggie's Farm, on a late December night, the small, square Harford Road dining room was full, with couples and foursomes along the edges, and in the middle, two separate large parties, of 12 and 18, celebrating birthdays. We were concerned about our own good time. Are these people going to get loud? Can I get my order in before they do? There was no need to worry, not at Maggie's Farm, which serves up big flavors with a mellow attitude and makes the hard work of preparing and serving good food feel effortless.

The U.S Postal Service is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man involved in an armed robbery at the small Benson Post Office between Bel Air and Fallston Wednesday afternoon. The robbery at the post office, in the 100 block of Connolly Road, was reported at 1:46 p.m., Sheriff's Office spokesman Eddie Hopkins said. According to a follow up news release from Hopkins issued Thursday, witnesses told police a white male entered the post office and posed as a customer.

As taken from the pages of The Aegis dated Thursday, November 15, 1962: Harford's fatality rate rose to 24 people with a crash this week 50 years ago in Aberdeen. Helen Harris, 47 of Garden City Park, N.Y., died instantly when the car in which she was a passenger struck a concrete barrier along Route 40 in Aberdeen. The driver of the car was rushed to Harford Memorial Hospital for treatment of a fractured pelvis and multiple lacerations of the face. The couple's 1961 Cadillac convertible failed to negotiate a curve on the highway and hit the barrier.

A couple of areas of Harford County particularly hard hit by power outages from Storm Sandy were Fallston and Fountain Green, where many businesses and homes were still dark Tuesday night. Wednesday morning, however, power had restored to much of Fallston and to Fountain Green, and life appeared to be getting back to normal. It was a far different story Tuesday, night, however. The entire Route 1 commercial strip in Fallston from the Bel Air Bypass to the Baltimore County line did not have power around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

As of 7:30 a.m. Thursday, traffic was slow on Ruxton Road near I-83, due to an accident. Accidents were slowing traffic on Harford Road near Joppa Road in Baltimore County, Route 10 northbound near Furnace Branch Road in Anne Arundel County, and Padonia Road near Broad Avenue in Baltimore County. Monument Street is closed between Wolfe Street and Patterson Park Avenue in East Baltimore, due to sinkhole repairs. Maryland Transit Administration bus 35 has been diverted. Until further notice, the No. 14 bus stop located northbound on Crain Highway at Furnace Branch Road has been temporarily relocated due to construction.

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, traffic was slow on the outer loop of I-695 near Harford Road, due to an accident. In the Darlington section of Harford County, near Conowingo Dam, U.S. 1 was closed between Castleton Road and Shuresville Road, due to a fatal single vehicle accident that was reported around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. An on-duty Harford County Sheriff's deputy was killed in the accident, which occurred in the 4700 block of Conowingo Road, also known as U.S. 1. The deputy's identity has not been released pending notification of his family, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Charlotte A. Voith, a Chessie System employee and longtime volunteer, died Tuesday at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson of complications from a broken hip. The Northwood resident was 89. Charlotte Ann Schmidt was born in Baltimore and spent her early years in an Ostend Street home before moving to Richmond, Va., with her family. They later moved to Fair Oaks Avenue in Hamilton, and she graduated in 1941 from Eastern High School. She went to work for the B&O Railroad in the treasury department, at the company's old headquarters building at Charles and Baltimore streets.
